Just bought a used 2016 and it has this on it, dealer doesn’t know what it is and I don’t have a clue. Anyone know what this is or what it does?
It’s mounted lower left, near the tire pressure reset button, and is wired to this other piece.

    I have two guesses:

    1) Unlikely as the part screwed into the lower dash is quite small: Brake controller.
    2) Junk aftermarket alarm system that just blinks a light when you lock the doors. At least it plugs in and wasn't installed by shredding all of the OEM wiring.

Pretty sure its an after market alarm. I have one just like it in my Venza. Dealer will say the standard Toyota alarm is not very good and push to sell you the aftermarket version. If you say yes they activate the alarm if not they don't activate it and it just sits there stuck to your dash

Too many wires to be a brake controller.

Ha reminds me of an old honda my brother bought. It came with some aftermarket security system where you had swipe this rfid tag across a sensor hidden behind the dash to start it. Well he lost it one day at the store and was freaking out. Well I went and looked at the car and twisted the two wires together that plugged into the sensor thing behind the dash and it fired right up with the key. Great security system..

The first picture looks like a Brake Controller, second picture looks like some sort of alarm.
