No. To the right of those holes (in the inner fender) in the OP's photo is a black bracket, and then a Ground point (from the battery to the body) that has a big silver lug bolted in place there. THAT bolt is what the L/H strut uses. On the right (passenger) side, there is a threaded hole just under the black plastic trim piece. I popped the trim piece up at the front to make that hole easier to access. I used a 10mm wrench to install the new "ball" bolts and a 12mm socket to install the brackets on the hood hinges. BTW- there's a great install video on YouTube that helped me much more than the instructions.

One strut is longer than the other. The longer strut goes on the passenger side (not in the instructions). You need to push up on the hood to get the strut on. Then pop on the left side. The brackets for the hood itself use the upper hinge bolt. Just remove, but the bracket in place and re-install the bolt.

These are pretty strong struts, and I seriously doubt that a wind will overcome them, unless the wind is a hurricane or tornado, but why would you have your hood up in a hurricane or tornado. As you close the hood, when you are about 1 foot from being totally closed, the struts stop pushing and you can let the hood go so it latches securely.

For anyone who has installed the Sokietech struts a couple questions I had after just now installing mine:

    1. Do you notice any play side to side as you’re closing the hood?

    2. If you stand in the side of your hood and look inline to where the side ball mounts are, do yours have a noticeable slant towards the front of the truck? Like too much force is being put onto the ball mount?
