OP I have been looking for new tires for my taco. Right now I am running the Michelin ltx m/s. I love these tires. They are awesome in the snow, on the road and mild trail running. I am just about at 80k on them and it's just about time for new ones. I am now looking for a tire with just a little tougher look. Right now I am torn between the Michelin ltx at2 and the general grabber 2z I have the Micheline on my Chevy 3500 dualy. It's a plow truck that I have 4 tons of gravel in the back along with a 1 ton plow. The tires seem great so far. Have only 15k on them so far but holding up great and great in the snow. The generals are tires two of my friends have and they live in the mountains of Colorado and they love them. They say they are great in snow mud and trails and pretty smooth on the roads and quite. So these might be something to look at as well. Have fun

How do the Michelins look in a larger size? They look like regular tires and wonder how they would look in a 285/70/17. I used to have Michelin on my Explorer years ago and they were fantastic tires. But that was in a stock size. Do you have them on your Taco in a oversize that you can post up a pic?

I am going with Nitto Grappler G2's in 265/70/17 on my white TRDORAC. They will be mounted on TRD 17/7 pro wheels in matte black. According to specs, these tires should add one inch diameter over the stock Goodyear Wranglers (31.65 vs. 30.6 in.). They also weigh less at 40.6 vs. 42 lbs. I considered KO2, Cooper ATW and AT3, and Toyo A/T II; all in non-E rated series. May have gone with Coopers but their tire diameters run small. I have Toyos on my 4R and have been happy with them; wanted to try something different. The Nitto's tread depth (115T series) is relatively shallow, but at $160 I thought I would give them a try. Mounting this Saturday, will post pics.

So stupid question - my truck's not being built till January so I have to ask instead of just look myself. Want to replace the tires, but should I buy 4 or 5 (is the spare just a crappy spare or is it the same rim and tire combo as the other wheels)? Never really owned a truck before so pardon my ignorance.

The spare tire is the same on the OffRoad as the other 4, Goodyear Wranglers. The wheel is a basic black (steel?) rim. I only ordered 4 tires even though changing sizes. Figured I could limp to tire shop if necessary.
