I'd like to do some very mild off roading. Nothing too serious. Unfortunately, I don't have a Taco OR or TRD Pro. What sort of tires should I get for the Limited, or is that not enough, and I'd also need to get wheels and lift? Very new to this sorry.

Duratracs C rated 265/65/18 max size you can go without a lift. No lift is necessary these trucks are plenty well equipped for any mild offroading. The Duratracs will provide additional traction in mud and snow and will be an upgrade over the stock tires without killing your fuel economy or torque

Good all terrains are what you are after. I would look at the Hankook DynaPro AT, BF Goodrich All Terrain KO2, Cooper AT3 (AT3/W) if you're in a snow belt or the General Grabber AT2. I have owned multiple sets of all of these over the years and they were all fantastic (only one set of the KO2 but several of the KO and its predecessor).

C-rated? What does that refer to? Most sites I'm seeing don't mention a rating.

    Yep it's a 4x4 at least. That's good. Thanks!

Oh also, since the stock seems to be 265/60/18 would I need to do something with the speedometer/navigation/anything else to make it work correctly?

Keep in mind this is how it starts...the sickness...leading to the cleaning out of the wallet. At first you say, "I would like to do some mild offroading, maybe I need some more aggressive tires; maybe one size bigger." Then you get those tires and you feel like a kid at x-mas. Then you go offroad and you feel an exhilaration - ah yes...freedom....power....manliness! You gas up after being offroad and other people see the mud on your truck and they are envious. They don't have the balls to take their purtty truck off road, or their wives say 'no'! But no....not you! You think that perhaps I would like to do this again! When your driving home suddenly a thought occurs to you, 'maybe a lift is in order, or some skids plates.'

    ...and it has begun.

No it will be fine. The difference is fairly neglible (3%) between stock size and a 265/65/18. C rating is the load rating. Google tire load rating and you'll see. E rated tires are much heavier and stiffer and are for heavy duty applications. Not necessary for this midsized truck.

Seriously though, same thing I say to every newcomer. Read, read and read some more. There is a ton of info on this sight. Hit the search button, you are bound to find a group of guys doing what you want to do with your Taco. Get pumped, you own a freekin Taco and there is a lot to learn! Life is awesome.

I don't know the conditions you'll be driving in, but it could be your stock tires are just fine for a while.

Just venture out with someone experienced (them in their own vehicle) with driving off road and recovery methods.

I know they are not as cool as you guys and the Kbro2s but I'm really liking my Terra grapplers...except in snow in which case they are definately death traps and your gonna die. Soon. In a indescribable fireball. Otherwise they are great

Just recently put a set of falken wildpeak AT/ 3Ws on my truck and really like them so far. Cooper st max were my last set and I also liked those. Good luck. Cheers.

PS.... definetly wouldn't let not having all terrain tires keep you from venturing out and exploring. Have fun

Go on craigslist and buy the stock wheels and tires another guy is selling off his new TRD off road. Then used the money you saved from not buying Duratracs to buy some high quality recovery straps and shackles.
