I am so sorry to hear this. I felt the same way abut my good friend who almost died of Lyme disease. It was touch and go -- he was not paralyzed but definitely needed a ventilator so I totally feel for you. If we have learned one thing from this whole pandemic is that the smallest bugs can create the biggest problems.

Hope you recover ... are they saying you will eventually return to normal or is your situation permanent?

I have actually been bit by a black widow, on my leg. It hurt, and The pain was there for about 8 weeks, mainly just moving my leg hurt, and it was confined the muscle that was bit itself. Very strange to feel your muscle move around like steel cable in your leg and hurt while doing so. But a brown recluse spider... that’ll mess your day up.

If you're in a southern state, ya gotta watch out for Alpha-gal syndrome. I think you can only get it from a lone star tick bite.

Good friend of mine has it. Only meat he can now eat is fish, and it can't be cooked near chicken, beef or pork.

Sucks cause he's an avid hunter with a freezer full of deer and wild hog meat.

Doc's cant do anything for him, and his last blood work showed positive for Lyme disease too.

Pretty hard core dude, and sometimes says fuck it and eats what he wants, knowing he'll be spending time sitting on the shitter with a garbage can between his legs.

Like it has been said, it won't live long without food. I wouldn't worry about it. Just check your body good for a few days while you wait him out.

Lyme disease is serious stuff. A guy at our camp hunted every afternoon during season..... did this every year. He got lyme disease and to make a long story short, we didn't see him for a few years.

I am in the brush, creek lines and woods all the time. Read up about Lyme. In order for Lyme to be transmitted to a person the tick has to be attached for quite a long time, not the case in your situation. But there are other illnesses transmitted from ticks that only require a bite. I would still watch for signs like you said fever, swelling, redness, bulls-eye rash. As far as treatment for the truck, I do not know short of a pesticide bomb. Treat your dedicated off road clothing with Permethrin. Maybe even the cloth interior of the truck (I have never done this). I hate them ticks!

yeah if it was crawling then chances are that it didn’t bite. They bite and latch on for hours to days not for a few seconds.

don’t spray deet in the plastics it will stain them. I don’t think bug spray will do anything for you here.

BUT when you go out in the woods I spray my shoes and bottom half of my pants liberally with bug spray. Find bug spray that says it repels ticks, you’ll be fine with that.

next time save the tick. Always save them somehow whether it’s a mason jar or whatever. I know, moot point now but for the future, it’s super easy to test a tick for Lyme to determine your potential exposure. It’s a lot harder to test a human after a bite to see if they might or might not have been exposed.

My doctor said this looked like the bite of a baby tick. Itched like crazy for 2 weeks.

I already admitted I was being a bit harsh and dramatic.

I just can't live my life everyday scared ill catch west nile or lyme.

Be aware, be proactive, but don't be scared to drive you truck because a tick fell off you.

Everbody reacts to ticks differently. I can rip them out no problem, clears up in a couple days. My wife still has a bite mark from one over a month ago.

Also, while we're comparing bites and stings, fire ants SUCK. Got bit in the calf while portaging a kayak and my leg burned and cramped up. 0/10 would not recommend.
