^Go ahead an run a straight pipe I'll give you less than a day before you get pulled over and get a $2,500 fine for running it with no catalytic converters. Reallll smart. :boink:

^He's in California, which has probably the strictest and harshest penalties for emissions in the country, at $2,500 for no catalytic converters.

Here you go: Copied directly from the EPA regarding CA.

    Q. What is the penalty for a violation of the law?

    A. Catalytic converter falls under California anti-tampering law. The law is designed to prevent tampering with pollution control devices on California vehicles. The anti-tampering law is Vehicle Code Section 27156 and covers all pollution related systems and devices on a motor vehicle. Judges usually impose penalty based on the severity of the offence and whether a repeat offender is involved, and a fine of up to $2,500 for each violation may be assessed, as well as some jail time.

+1 on it'll be cool for a few months then it'll suck every time you're on the highway or want to be on the phone unless you sound proof it. And with straight pipes good luck having it inspected.

Yea it sounds sick, huh bro! Oh so you think... heres my straight pipe. All cats on, just no muffler and let me tell you it sounds like a goat giving birth mixed with an elephant phart. I guarantee you will get sick of it after 5minutes. Jump on the highway and cruise at 70mph for 60 seconds and tell me what you think. Videos don't do justice to how loud and deep the open exhaust really is. Inside it's like a 12" subwoofer constantly throwing sound waves that don't stop! Its annoying as hell. Might I add, completely unrefined. Like you mr OP I love really loud pipes, but this just isn't right lol

idk. didnt have straight pipe on that long. it was just to get home n installed new exhaust next day at work.

i did have cats. well one cat. im running DTLT headers. so with that straight pipe it was Fokin loud! LOL
i got a kick from driving home, blasting by the people at the bus stops. but it resonated really bad inside the cab. i think i also got a small headache from the droning noise. can anyone say "brown-note" lol

I loved the sound of my old 454 chevy thru a set of flowmasters, maybe a couple outdoor speakers and a recording of the big block engine of your choice with the volume tied into the accelerator somehow. I got a gibson on my 98 and yea it sounds ricey.
