Just removed my SnugTop and not sure how to protect exposed wiring for the third brake light. Does anybody have experience with this?

Thinking about just taping a bag around it and calling it a day but thought I would run it by you guys/gals

I'd personally probably not give af about it tbh. But if I decided to give af, I'd probably just saran wrap it and call it a day.

Yeah at some point. Just trying to figure a way to protect the wiring in the mean time.

So you think it would be fine through a car wash? Sorry if that’s a dumb question; I honestly don’t know jack about wiring

Depending on the connector, sometimes you can get a cap for it. Otherwise you could tape it, or put a balloon over it or something.

I'd tape it up so the plug side is down and call it a day. Maybe throw some electrical or gorilla tape over the plug while you're at it.

I’m an electrician,if it was bare wires I may be more worried but seeing as they are in a harness It’ll be fine regardless. Just tape it up somewhere it won’t get messed up or crushed.

Cool thanks for the advice. So does that mean that it is already pretty much weather proof?

I'm not an electrician but I am a bike mechanic that deals with electric bikes on a daily basis... there's no such thing as weatherproof electronics. They are resistant to water but they will fail if exposed to bad weather constantly

Can you tuck it under between the bed and metal rail after taping the ends to keep dirt out? They will be more out of the sun and weather that way too.

Pack some dielectric grease in the contacts and wrap it up in 3M 33 electrical tape.

It’s not waterproof or weatherproof, but from my side of things I’d be worried about loose wires shorting out. In a harness that wouldn’t happen as long as it’s somewhere it can’t get banged up or submerged. I’d also imagine sunlight may degrade the plastic though so maybe bag it before you tuck it somewhere it will be out of harms way.

Drill a hole and install a bulkhead connector with a cover. No exposed wires to get snagged. No saran wrap.

This. And, using dielectric is always a good thing with wiring, not only this time..

Alright so I blended y’alls advice and stuffed the connectors with dielectric grease, wrapped the hell out of it with electrical tape, and zip tied it with connectors facing down. Thanks for the advice!
