I ordered the TRD exhaust system today from Toyota of Manhattan. $445 before tax, best deal I could get by $75 locally without having to pay for shipping.

    Here's the question:

What did you all do with your stock exhaust? Sell it, scrap it, dump it? I looked around and found lots of info on which exhausts to purchase but didn't see much of anything on what to do with old parts.

With previous cars, whenever I pull a stock part, especially big items, I kept it in the garage; I'm a car part hoarder...in my mind the mantra is, "you never know..."

With that in mind, I've found that 99% of the time I never used that part again. So my advice? Sell it.

Can someone sawzall theirs open, if your going to trash it anyway? I'm sure TW would be curious what the baffles and chambers look like on the stock setup.

Love it. I'll probably just take it to a scrap yard. We have loads of them in Brooklyn/Queens.

Should have my exhaust done on Saturday. Gonna sound great echoing off all the buildings here.

I'd recommend holding onto it for a while, just to ensure that you like the TRD. After that, as already noted, there's not much value to them. Seen people trying to sell them for $200-300, since a new one costs $12,000,,,, only to hold them for even longer. They are next to impossible to ship too, unless you cut them up. I'd try craigslist first and see if you can't get $50 out of it, if not, off to the recycler/trash/curb.

How can a stock cat-back possibly go for $12,000?

Yesterday a dealer in Brooklyn quoted me $4300 and I kept asking if he was looking at the right part.

    Cuz it's OEM :D:D:D, that's why.

The 4300 might be since the cats and manifolds are attached and they all have to be purchased together,,, you know, the dreaded uni-exhaust. :D

Just gave mine to a buddy. Looked at his exhaust and the last rubber bushing holding it to the frame had the pegs installed/sitting the wrong way. The peg for the exhaust was on top and the peg coming off the frame was on bottom. Subsequently the exhaust was higher in the back and had melted a crescent shape into his body. lol looks like he'll be taking a trip to the dealership to see what they can do. I'll post a pic.

I may be missing a bigger picture here, but from your pictures...it looks like you can just rotate the rubber hanger a full 180, laterally. That way the exhaust pipe hanger us underneath the body hanger.

He totally can. But we were wondering how it got that way and stayed long enough to melt the plastic.
