Had some stereo components installed by a small operation shop run by a nice guy (a vet), sounds great and was really affordable but...

That's a work of art right there. Let your insurance co. handle it.

Looks like they didn't know how to remove the door panel and tweeter grill and just started prying away.

I would bring it up with the owner, but not expect anything.

Definitely make a mention of it to the shop owner/manager... but as @stan23 said, I wouldn't hold your breath

I assume you've already spoken with him. What did he say? No need to be so mysterious...

I have not spoken to him, trying to decide if it's worth the awkward conversation. I paid him about $500 bucks to install About $1000 of components. If he was going to fix this I'm sure it would wipe out whatever he made on the job and then some.

I can't even imagine the cost to replace those 2 door panels + a pillar plastic. That's probably over a grand right there.

Don't be afraid to say anything, that's the mistake most folks make in situations like this. For some reason, people are intimidated by audio or any installation shops. Fuck that noise. This is your truck, your money and you paid them for a job to do. This is a disgrace to hand a customer their vehicle back like this. Most won't say anything when things like this happen so they hand it back to you as if you're blind and the installer thanks their lucky stars. At first be courteous, but insistent. If they still don't do anything, let them have it. Yelp reviews does wonders.

Like I tell my customers, "There are three types of work; Fast, Cheap, and Quality. The problem is that you get to pick only two." Honestly, the guy should have insurance to cover that.

Try to find a guy who specializes in interior car repairs. They're hard to find but ask around.

I've seen them work at dealers before and they can minimize -if not eliminate alot of the damages they are called in for. Seen some like this before too.

    Good luck.

Did you discover the damage yourself, or did the guy fess up and tell you? That would probably set the tone for how I would handle it. Either way the guy needs to be made aware if he didn't tell you, but it seems like it's pretty glaring for it to be chalked up to an "oops" or "I didn't see it". Hopefully he'll offer to fix it for you.

It`s a lot harder to get anything done to correct the issue when going back later, nobody wants to admit that they screwed up, but wow I`d be pissed to see that on my brand new truck, I hope someone will own up to it and make it right for you.

Man that sucks! I'd demand that they fix it. Hopefully there isn't some fine print saying they're not responsible for damage like this during installs. Shouldn't be, but ya never know with some of these hacks out there. A stand-up shop would admit that they screwed up and say this is how we're gonna make it right!

I discovered it a day or two later, picked up the truck at night and I commute in the dark which hides a lot in s black interior.

You need to stop waiting and speak to them. The longer you wait the more
chance of them pointing to YOU that caused it.

    That's not cool..

Don't feel bad because he is a "vet" that's ridiculous. If he was brave/honest he would have walked out with you and showed you the mess he made! If it didn't look like that on the way in SPEAK UP!

So you payed $500 to have $1000 worth of damage done to you truck?
