Incorrect the engine is a 4.0 and the transmission does not have the 3rd gen Tacoma issues.

Figured out how to only have 4 people in the car at any one time. A lot of coordination and help from neighbors.

    <--- Signature update!

Went with the loaded Pro M/T (for $40k) after test driving the OR M/T. It has the sunroof package and I talked them into throwing a set of weather tech-style mats in it.

First of all... OMG does the M/T bring this truck to life! I drove a 2017 TRD Pro A/T for 2 years and pretty much complained the whole time. OVTune made it a little better (1.05), but it still wasn't right and I hated that it had to be hacked to work properly. It was definitely the transmission all along. I was really nervous pulling onto the on-ramp how the truck was going to respond, remembering all of the underwhelming merge experiences I had with the 2017. I punched it and ran through the gears. Whoever said you just need to get it above 3k rpm is dead on. That is the exact point when the truck begins to pull and it pulled admirably. The A/T tries it's best to keep you below 3k, which makes for a miserable drive. Super happy about the truck. Thanks for the input everyone!

That is a sweet looking truck, and if the truck is more enjoyable to drive then that is a bonus too.:burnrubber:

    Nice!

BTW, did you sell your OVtune kit yet?

I'm sure you're aware, but Mat will transfer your license to the new truck.

I'm doing that this weekend, going from a '16 AC OR M/T to a '19 DC Sport M/T. I'll be emailing OVtune shortly afterward. It's true, the M/T has far,far fewer problems than the slushbox, but it is still better tuned IMHO. Oh, and if you find the release point feels strange at times (delayed engagement) or other weirdness, the accumulator can be easily removed (there's a whole thread on that).

Oh... and - there's also a 2lo plug n play mod if you find reverse too tall for backing up a trailer etc (and you don't want to be in 4lo on a high traction surface).

    Have fun!

Whoa. That's a lot to digest.

I kept my OVTune and am getting it transferred as well. Not sure I'm going to use it yet though. Just going to get it all set up. I really like how it drives at the moment, and maybe when I get bored I'll throw the tune on for a renewed drive.

Not sure what an accumulator is, but looks like I have some research to do there. I did notice that the clutch catches way up high, but it's different for every car, so just figured that's the way it is. No complaint. Just different. Can you link the thread you mentioned?

    Thanks for the tips!
