I tried searching but have not seen much recently on what to look for in purchasing a used 2015 Tacoma 4.0. I’m coming from an 2018 F150 with oil consumption issues. The truck I’m looking at doesn’t have rust underneath. Is there anything else I should try and look for? Worried about buy someone else problem. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

I own a 2015 and the only thing I’ve ever done is replace a chirping ac blower cage..... no big deal.

IMO the 2015 had all the bugs worked out.

If the owner has good maintenance records and a good long test drive checks out I would say you’re good to go.

2015 owner with 92000 miles on it. the only thing ive replaced is tires. biggest issue i can think of is what oil the previous owner was putting in. would just recommend going to synthetic. they are pretty bullet proof. would check the front diff seals by throwing it in 4h. not notably a taco problem but little to no usage can cause issue. Mainly rust. As long as the fluids have been changed according to the manual, it should be pretty solid. Obviously lower miles are better. Also depends where you live

I have to ask.... 5.0 V8? Like Bink said I'd post an ad, so others can take a closer look and spot any major issues

Yes the 5.0. Had the engine replaced. Went through all the TSB and it still consumed. Messed up the catalytic converters and has them replaced.

107,000 miles. Original owner and 4x4. Miles is the only issue I see. $21,500

thats a good price, I'd go for it. I have 142K miles on my 13 and it feels great.

Lots of life left in that truck. Looks clean and well cared for. Should last you 10+ years easily.

I knew that truck looked familiar:

I can’t believe it’s still available. Like I said Sunday take it to your own mechanic for an inspection.
Good luck with your purchase

He mentioned in the other thread he started about this truck that it’s red mud.

Wow. It's like looking in a mirror...
I've had good luck with my 2015. only 70k on mine and I live in the South though.
Finding one seems to be most peoples issue with them.

Looks like a nice truck. Like you probably will, check everything you can, inside and out. Test drive it. Engage 4x4 where safe. Look for anything out of place or out of alignment. I've had a seller tell me their truck was single owner, no accidents, yet their front bumper was slightly off. Crawled underneath and there were new front end parts and the front was misaligned. Test drove it and found something off with the steering. Truck looked perfect in pictures.
Also cigarette smell is a no go for me, which you can't tell in pictures.
Good luck and hope it works out for you.
