What to look for

I have looked for the appropriate forum to put this but this one seems the closest. I appologize if wrong as I am new here.

I am on the market for a Tacoma. I know I may be opening Pandora's Box as opinions will vary. But I would like to hear what you experienced owners have to say about which years are the better years and why. Also what "problems" should I be on the look out for while shopping.

I have also seen referances here regarding "generation". I have seen first and second generation referances made. What years separated the first from the second, what do you see as the advantages/disadvantages of both.

I know I may be asking for a lot of information but I consider this a large, long term investment. I usually keep a vehicle for a long time. This will be replacing a vehicle that I had for over 13 years with over 275K miles that is only being replaced because I hit a deer on the interstate and totaled it.

Ok, I think I have found a cantidate. a 2007 4 door crew cab. 2 wheel drive. 4.0 engine with an automatic. It appears to have all the bells and whistles with a tow hitch and 5000 lb towing capacity. It is at Car Max. I think it may be a little over priced but not by much and it they do offer a warranty.

Other people who have purchased from Car Max have given them a good rating for good cars and customer service which is worth something in itself.
