Noticed some scratches and a small rust spot on the roof
thinking of sanding it carefully then applying touch up paint, which hopefully has clear built in and can be polished/waxed later

    What do you all use?
OEM pen on Amazon for $11 seems decent because it's OEM and cheap,
however the pen design looks shitty; it's probably the kind where you depress the pen tip and then it dumps out too much paint.

A brush seems better, but those only come in non-OEM brands. Maybe they're good enough because Toyota colors are usually not that crazy and probably easy to match.
I think a second version is OEM but a brush tip; hopefully that is the case. I might ask the dealer parts dept.

for example this one on Amazon is a foam tip and seems way more popular, having sold 5,500 units vs 50 of Pic #1

    pn 00258-001e7-21 1e7 might have a brush
but the instructions pictured say some vehicles may require clear gloss on top (what vehicle nowadays doesn't have clear???)
which implies it is just a paint color without clear
possibly requiring also purchasing clear coat touch up

On the OEM pen you unscrew the cap and the brush is inside. I use the OEM one, but I'm sure there there has to be a better option out there. I'm not impressed by the color match, but if it's for little specks it'll be ok.

    thanks for the heads up
i might try the duplicolor then to see if it's good

I heard their spray can versions are popular for the anti-theft tailgate bracket mod, to paint the whole piece since it comes in bare metal, to match the truck color

DDACBFB2-6DBE-4448-9D36-60D27293376E.jpg I use the duplicolor and don’t bother with the clear and looks just fine for small rock chips on front portion of hood. Got it at local autozone I believe.

Dont have any pictures currently but for what it is it’s hardly noticeable unless you’re really looking.

I also used the spray match for my grille surround with a separate can of clear and it came out to be a really good match. Used self etching primer, the duplicolor, and clear.
