My 1st Gen. It only had 40K miles on it, was paid off, was already a great truck, and it could have been built up to be a trail monster like this one. To this day, I regret selling it.

Got into offroad racing for several years; now back to rock crawling again. Check this out, 2L 8000rpm motor, 100+ mph VW Baja. Lots of fun.

Yes, the black one is not mine, mine was pretty nice, but not that nice. I have always had a great love for 1st Gens. They are a great platform to build out. Here is another great truck, that I got alot of ideas from.

Built it, check out the Predator racing carb sitting on top of this thing. Hit the gas, and grab gears, it was like a bomb went off each time. I even drag raced it a few times. Blew people's minds.

Totally unrelated but found a set of SPC UCA on the cheap with no hardware or ball joint. And Gen 1 I think? Hope I can find replacements. I checked and they looked too skinny to fit our front towers. Confirmed they definitely wont fit gen 2 or 3 taco. So I'm selling so SPC UCA lol.

Edit- i found part number 25001 replacement ball joints for this. About 115 is the cheapest I found.

    Part number is 25460.

No, sold everything for a new sand toy. Built up a CJ5 with a 500+ HP small block Chevy and a 4sp trans. Geared and locked at both ends. This was another monster of a ride, you never knew what it was going to do. Stomp the skinny pedal, grab 2nd gear and hold on, sometimes it went sideways to the left, and sometimes it went sideways to the right. Sometimes it went both ways. More often it spit out the drive shift like a cruise missile. Wife road in it one time and and screamed at me when we finally came to a stop, it scared the shit out of her. See pics of this build, it's one of many that have been sold onto someone else.

That's awesome man. Do you do the engine work yourself or have a shop do it ? I always wondered how people "drop in small blocks".

I think that's another reason why I'm considering getting a trail rig only. I can take it apart and break it all without worrying and do some repairs like engine etc.

I build all my own motors, but have a performance machine shop do all of the machine work, boring, balancing, head work, port and polishing. I will spend months just gathering parts for a build. Engine, trans, suspension, gears, lockers, last is wheels and tires as I get to the completion of the build. I will go wheel it a few times and usually sell it before it starts needing serious repairs.

Check this out, 100% go kart fun, 4 cylinder from hell, bored over, high compression pistons, Isky cam, major head work, fuel injected, intake and custom exhaust, geared and locked at both ends. It never broke, wife and kids drove this for a few years. Want to see more builds?
