    Hi,

I'm new here so I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place.
I'm trying to figure out what transmission I have and some help would be greatly appreciated. I just bought the truck so I'm making sure everything has new fluids ect.

    About the truck.

    1998 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner TRD.
It has the 3.4L V6 with a locking rear differential.
    Automatic

    Thank you

No I haven't done that. Why should I do it? I was under the impression to only mess with the locker when I was stuck and then to turn it off when I was unstuck. There's no light on my dash illuminated so I figured it was alright.
    Thanks for your help.

Oh okay thanks! It was a grandpa's gardening truck so he didn't use it much. It only has 45k miles on it. So I'm assuming it will work. I'll have to find some dirt to test it out.

Well mostly because its electrically engaged it's kind of a use or lose it thing meaning you won't actually "lose it" but with all things electrical its good habit to energize/engage it every so often just to ensure it WILL engage if & when you need it, alot of times I read where someone is stuck & then they remember "Oh yeah, locker" they push the button & nothing happens,or it energizes but won't lock in, usually because poor/& or corroded connections or because they've never engaged it & being stuck only to have it fail because of non use sucks big time...
