    FYI: If you pull out the dip stick it will indicate what type of fluid to use.

    Do you guys recommend a synthetic option? My local dealer didn't have any Dex III for my 2.7L A/T 2001.

    Thanks guys. I believe the PRE 04 models aren't the T-IV. So I need a diff fluid

    Dexron III licensing ended in 2006. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DEXRON

    There are any number of products on the market that are DexIII quality. Any parts house has them on the shelf. Some 'name brands' some house brands. Just read the labels and you'll be fine.

    Dexron VI is the current species and backward compatible, so you could use that too.

    Synthetic would be nice if you are working it real hard, or more importantly, unable to control the temperature well, as syn has a higher temp rating. But if you're just a 'normal' user, the fluid will be fine. It's almost more important to have the proper fluid, clean and fresh, not overheated, than it is anything else.

    I have an 03 V6 and the dipstick says t-IV

    Ordered a case off Amazon, cheaper than the local dealer here.
