I really dont understand why some many people want a gutless ford as their dream truck...except the Raptor. The harley f150 is overrated too, its pretty damn slow compared to just an average dodge, although the interior is pretty decent.

I'm thinking of a new truck and I'm torn between a new RAM Sport:

    (except all black)

    Or a Ford Raptor....

I agree, the Ram has a ton of power and is fun to drive, but their trannys are junk. I wouldn't want a Ford as my dream truck but would avoid anything Dodge makes like the plague.

x2 but there are alot of options for aftermartket transmission uprgrades (for the diesels anyway) so your not that screwed.

imo you cant beat the look of the dodges...esp the new rams...

It is funny how old stereotypes run long. Back in the 80's and 90's, yes Dodge transmissions were junk. One of the few good things to come out of the Daimler Chrysler pillaging of the Chrysler brand, was that those transmissions were redesigned. They are FAR better than they ever used to be in the past.

That was before the Daimler Chrysler merger. I had a '99, (pre DC truck as well) and it was one of the best trucks I had ever owned. I did keep the spec sheet simple - manual transmission, manual windows, manual locks, rubber floor, cloth seats, and the Cummins Diesel. I test drove a 2010 1/2 ton model with the 4.7L V8 when I was in the truck market, and one of the dealers was bragging on having $11k on the hood. I was very impressed with the truck. They lost the sale because the dealer was trying to rip me off.
