I'll just say it, there's no need to sugar code. Based on some of your answers, I highly doubt you are aware of the work involved. You said you're a fabricator, what fabrication have you done?

You mentioned the 4R has a engine misfire and yet your going to abuse it without actually fixing the issue prior? Maybe you plan on getting stranded. The factory 4R rear suspension is a joke and you'll link the front of the 4R as the rear is factory link? You probably get what, ~3" if that drooped as is?

Do you know anything about link geometry btw? It's not just weld it up and call it good.

You mention you want to keep it Toyota, so which axle are you running? Have you even gotten that far? Just because you did some reading and looked at a couple of pictures don't mean you're capable of performing the task. So yes, you said a lot of dumb things coming from a fab guy who knows what is involved.

BTW, let me know how 63 front and rear work on your tacoma if you go that route. That will be interesting. And you're going leaf front because the rear is factory leaf? Is that your reasoning?

63 front and rear is awesome. It's leaf version of link.

What's funny is the chevy leaf swap wasn't even mentioned by the OP until I brought it up, and I was talking mid-travel.

Think the OP just needs to keep it IFS and enjoy a mid-travel setup.

Asking "what feels" better is a moot point if the suspension is all getting replaced.

Sweet, i like this. i need people telling me where im an idiot to help me get things straight. first im sorry if i sound like a dip shit in here....ehh i already do so fuck it. i have fabricated trailers, bumpers, skid plates welding tables, custom motorcycles, customs scooters and the list goes on so there's that.

i 100% plan to fix the issue on the runner, i guess in that sense i had no reason to put it in the post. i am starting to save for this project so i expect to have the parts in a year or so and in that time im trying to do more research.

as to why i think about keeping the runner linked and the taco leaf idk i just like the fact of them being the same front and rear is that the best? probably not. i need to figure some more shit out on that i just thought it would be nice to have it the same. i do know the stock rear wont give me the articulation i want but that is a part i have not read up on yet, at this moment i dont know what needs to go into the rear of the 4runner or tacoma to make them flex more. thats a spot i planned on looking into more but just trying to figure the front setups first so i can figure out what truck i wanna do the swap on and what not.

i know a tad about suspension geometry, NO WHERE near the info i need atm but that is a spot i am learning more to get a better grasp on things.

Now for the toyota axles....ill give you that one, i know they are too narrow i should have said if i can id like the keep it toyota. i know WFO makes a link sas kit for dana44 and one ton so maybe thats the better option. im still figuring out axles i want to go.

i am in the stages of getting info on what is need and saving up to start getting parts. my bad for coming in here like i was ready because i am not. but i 100% will put in the time, money, and work to get it done. so thank you for showing me where i am wrong. i know there will be more of that haha.

If you want a true link rock crawler, I hope it's not with WFO radius kit.

If you want the room and comfort of a 4Runner but the flex of a solid axle setup with no downtime just get an 80 series :notsure:

Radius arm is frown upon in the rock community. Tho they are solid axle, they have no flex. As @Kwikvette mentioned, might as well buy an 80 and and call it a day. Factory 8" HP solid axle, FF 9.5 rear and no downtime. Even better if you buy one with triple lock

80 flexes well in stock form

There are custom arms available for more travel and if you want even more travel, go coilovers up front with some fab work

I'd say the first step is deciding exactly what you are going to do with each vehicle, and research from there.
