Pelican - buy once, cry once but they are hands down the best case for transporting boom sticks with expensive optics.
My LMT modular AR10 with a Nightforce scope travels in one. I used an electric soldering iron to etch my name on it too

I like Case Club. A little cheaper than Pelican but comparable quality imo.

for anything that shoots (bullets, pictures, telescopes, laser gear) any wheeled pelican. i've flown with it checked in and it's zero issues with security. also very easy to wheel in and out of the range parking lot lol.

Harbor freight cases are under rated. But be advised, the V700 Pelican Vault is the same price as on of the Harbor Freight rifle case branded Apache

I've been using a Condor 36 inch rifle case for years without any problem. I've lug around different optics and it held up fine. I recently bought a small discreet soft case from Cabela's I think it call RangeMaxx MSR and I like it so far. The Rangemaxx bag has a divider if you have to break down the rifle and 2 slots to hold magazines. Your more prone to break your optic when your rifle drop than being in a case.

o In the military, most nice or sensitive or $ equipment that needs extra protection what we have is a soft case for use when we are "Boots on the ground" and a pelican case that the soft case fits into for transportation from the armory to the field (Often the pelican case holds some extra BII or manuals etc.) works out very well. Hard cases just too cumbersome and bulky to use constantly

o FWIW; Almost all the hard cases I have seen in my 20+years are Pelican or their industrial/mil spec brand Hardigg

o I have a couple decent semi configurable soft cases. The soft cases get dropped in an oversized Pelican for movement to/from: Home/work/range. The Pelican gets loaded in the back seat of the truck but stays there. I only hump the soft case from the car to the range. I use a hefty steel cable lock with a decent "American" padlock tethering the Pelican to a hard point behind the seat of the truck. Yes a cut-off tool or 24"+ "Master Key" could defeat it, but certainly could stop a smash and grab while I'm at the gas station etc... (In my environment, I am comfortable leaving my stuff locked up this way while I am at work so I can hit the range on the way home) The Pelican 1740 is perfect for this (picture below). Fits nicely across the back seat of my Tacoma, I can drop my soft rifle case in it + my hard or soft pistol cases + my lap top if needed.

o Ebay has been a good source for gently used Pelican. Only superficial external cosmetic wear; equivalent to what I would do my self in a year or so for 50-75% off. Might have to be patient to find the right one. I scored a Pelican 1740 for under $200 shipped

o I like this soft case for my rifle Savior Equipment Urban Warfare Tactical Double Carbine Long Rifle Bag Gun Case Firearm Backpack w/Pistol Handgun Case - 42 Inch Olive Drab Green

    Same crap everyone else got
This is the exact soft case I have just in gray color.
I have actually fit one 16 in ar in one side and an mk18 and an 8.3in ar9 on the other side. Plus 2 handguns in the middle pockets.

Pelican 1700 works really well. Can easily fit SBR, suppressor, G17, and mags for both.
