Factory predator steps on mine. I don’t off road in my truck - I off road on two wheels. My kids use the steps to help them climb in and that’s all the function I need out of steps.

if I were into wheeling my truck, I would lose the predators and get sliders.

The steps were not damaged by impact. They are not used as "sliders". I do not "wheel"; although I do drive on gravel woods roads.9543C842-63FD-4E04-AEE7-834BBFA92A10.jpg

Likely damaged from gravel kicking up. Do you have front mudguards? Also does it snow where you live?

    Mudguards all around.
I had previously recommended the Tyger steps. I feel the right thing for me to do is to now share my negative experience with this add-on.

My Tacoma is my daily driver and spends 99% of it travel on Interstate highways. And yes, I have driven my truck on snowy roads. This product has failed to perform under some relatively easy conditions.

Can't argue with that. Looks like it started and spread under the paint. Could have been bad preparation before painting by the manufacturer.

I ended up going with the 2nd gen OEM running boards. I was going to go the slider route, but couldn't pass up the OEM look with 2nd gen running boards. Cost me $317, including tax, brand new from the dealer.

OEM aluminum boards. They’re for the kids and I could see a leg going through the predator steps. Also liked that they seemed to give the most clearance of the oem options. Didn’t want aftermarket because if I didn't buy the truck with something, I’d never justify installing something in the future- I prefer nothing. Happened with my last truck.

i step over them or use them to kick my boots off. Added bonus of parking lot door ding protection.

I have bought and sold two sets of Predators and I'm done with them. Yes they look great, helped my girls get in the truck but completely worthless in other ways. I don't off road anymore, I didn't use them to get in the truck, in fact it made it harder to get in because I was avoiding the steps with my legs so my pants would not get dirty. Loved the look but they served no purpose. My truck is lifted about 2.5 up front and a one inch rear block and the side steps made it no look as high. Off they went and sold them.

I have the Predator steps. The are functional but awkward. But the dealer threw them in for free so they will work for now.

I got the oem cast aluminum boards. On stock suspension they are a little awkward getting in (5’10”) - I randomly either bypass them all together or step up and have to duck inside. If I decide on the drivers grab handle that may help or if I raise it slightly it may be better. It’s mainly for the ol lady and kids but I do use them exiting so I stop sliding off the edge of the seat. I like that it’s aluminum, oem and the Berliner type coating. Oh and all the rocks getting kicked up chipping the rockers

Predators. But want the oem cast or second gen running boards. Anyone up for a swap?
