    Hello,
Recently bought a 2021 TRD off road in voodoo blue. I am slowly planning on adding TRD pro wheels with BF goodrich 265-70-R17 KO2 tires, small steel front bumper and winch, Canopy, Decked system and Prinsu roofrack.
Do i need to upgrade the suspension before I start adding all these stuff on it?

Your truck has cargo limits based on the design and construction. Any add-on/mods will impact the Cargo capacity.

Anything you do to the suspension will not increase the cargo capacity, it will only help handling the load.

What’s the difference between cargo capacity and handling the load?

Payload limits are legal limits set by the manufacturer. The truck comes from the factory with the ability to handle those loads. If you personally decide that those silly Toyota engineers didn't know what they were doing and add a buttload of weight like the OP is going to do, he probably needs to stiffen up his suspension.

Right. I think this is a semantics thing.

It’s still a Tacoma and nothing is going to change that, but you could do some suspension mods to make it ride better. I think that’s what OP was asking about.

Granted my Off Road is still bone stock, and I do not claim to be an expert on this specific topic, but depending on the total amount of weight one adds to their Tacoma, you will possibly get to the point where re-rearing (lower ratio) becomes necessary, in order to help the engine not bog down too much. This would apply under all circumstances, both on and off road.

My eventual plan is to do some minor "off roading" and vehicle camping. Its going to be mostly a daily driver and pavement princess.

Little of this, little of that.
WAIT to do your suspension till after you do all your mods. You'll have a better understanding of where everything settles and get your lift to match exactly what you want. There's stories on this site of guys doing Lift first and Mods second then Lift again. Don't do that to yourself.

I suggest a 6" drop bracket lift and Custom offwidth wheels. Some real deal bead stretchers.

I ran into the same thing recently. Put in a decked system and a Leer 100xr topper. 350-400lbs. Got Firestone airbags to account for weight in the rear and keep it level. Sank about an inch with both.
