What usually takes the brunt of it? Clutch or transmission?

This question is out of curiosity.

I’ve done some extensive research and the information I’ve found seems to either chase it’s own tail, be vague or could simply be operator error.

From my understanding, the clutch does take a lot of the brunt. When does the transmission itself take a lot of damage over the clutch?

I know towing super duper heavy loads and grinding the gears when shifting definitely do it.

It depends. If the clutch is engaged and not slipping. Then the Trans takes the most “brunt”. If the clutch is slipping it’s takeoff the more abuse.

I’d rather have a busted clutch than trans. A clutch is cheaper.
