Fun car. I'd have kept it longer if it had AWD.

My first car was a 1972 Buick Skylark. Green with a white top. Being one of 6 kids my parents couldn't afford to buy all of us a first car so I got a job working after school and weekends at a local meat market. I saved up enough to buy it when I was 15. But I couldn't get a license until I was 16 so I spent a lot of time just sitting in it. It had the stock am/fm radio and I badly wanted a cassette player so the first time my parents were out of town I drove it to K-Mart to buy the stereo. Only I didn't know how to drive very well yet. Somehow I managed to get there and back without killing myself or someone else and the stereo installed before my folks got home. Apparently my dad was smarter than I gave him credit for and he noticed it the next time he took me out for driving lessons. He took my keys away and grounded me for life. 20 years later he still reminded me I was still grounded. I sold the car to my brother a few years later. He wrecked it and sold it for scrap metal. I miss that car.

None yet Still a "base" model..
Gotta love them early ‘80s Volvo all-aluminum bumpers!
What year was yours? The one pictured looks like a pre-‘85!
Interesting! It seems like quite a few folks here have a Volvo “background”
Even when I swore I wouldn’t drive anything but Volvos in my life, I still admired the Toyota brand. For reliability, but of course, which was pretty much why I was in love with the Volvos at the time. Then the 850 series arrived, and after owning one of them for a couple of yrs, I was done with the brand! Gone outta window was the over-engineered, robust&reliable sweedish machines!
Anyways, enough strolling down memory lane! Here’s a pic with my first: 1979 Volvo 244 GLE
Yap, it was a V6 PRV motor:oops: just like DeLorean
Same silver color and multispoke rims...
Still have original pic in 35mm format somewhere, Hey,it was the ‘80s:D!
Interior was black leather and had manual crank sunroof
And of course, “Lambda” sond emblem on grill:thumbsup:

    1984 Toyota 4x4 pick-up. Wish I had some pictures.

I bought it in 1993 for $3500 and kept it until it was totaled in 1998.

Nice. My first was a 1985 4x4 (missing front driveline) Toyota pickup single cab straight axle carburetor 22r.
Had an aftermarket header + exhaust and a lift. No power steering and it would try to break my wrists when offroading hahaha. Was super noisy and leaked oil out of differentials and everywhere else. I never changed the oil in it and the truck had close to 300k miles when I got it in 2004. Sold it to my buddy a few years later and he is still driving it now. That was the most durable truck known to man. I couldn't kill that truck if I tried.

Yep, no power steering but it did have AC . :D

Mine was an east coast truck and it was frame rust that killed it...well, it got T boned and because the frame was rusted the axle hanger to torn off. I sold it to a guy for parts. I wouldn't be surprised if that 22R is still running.

1976 Datsun 280Z. God, I loved that car. Got three speeding tickets and our insurance agent called my dad and told him that if I didn't sell it, he would cancel the whole family's car insurance.

Mine was that color and a 1980 year. It was my grandmothers car that was given to me when I turned 16.

1989 Dodge Aries K-car. No balls, but it was a tank in the snow (and in general; it not only survived 2 years of my teenage driving, but 3 years of my brother's and then was sold for the same $500 I paid for it  )

The exact same car popped up for sale on ebay a few weeks ago, and it took all of my self-control not to click 'bid' for purely nostalgic reasons.

I did not have a Type-R nor the Volk TE37 wheels (look is close enough tho)

Mine was silver, with black 5 spoke Rotas and a black carbon fiber duck bill spoiler. B-16 swapped.

    Miss him.
