My dad gave me his Weatherby XXII when I turned 14. I will hand it over to my sone someday as well.

My first pistol was given to me by my stepdad. It's an older .38 Special that was his dad's. It was the only firearm I kept with me for a long time, rather than back home on the farm with the family firearms.
My first personally purchased gun was a 16 gauge 1965 Wingmaster 870.
My first rifle I purchased was last week's M&P 15 Sport 2. Up until the M&P, my youngest firearm was the '65 Wingmaster:

Ward's Western Field bolt action .22 given to me around the age of 8 or so. I think it was made in the early 1940's. It is still proudly in my collection, although it rarely sees the light of day...

My Dad bought this for me when I was 12 - 1967. A Sears Model 5 made by Winchester. It was used and I believe is a pre-1964 model based on the Model #. Still shoots like a champ.

Winchester 190 tube feed semi auto. Will handle S, L, LR, even if mixed. Rarely jams, and then only on S.

Bought in fall of 1967 with my tip money and paycheck from my first week as a bag boy at the local grocery (so not very much $)

    Rapidly approaching 50 years old.

Even more interesting is the sporting goods/army surplus store I bought it at is still in business, still owned by the same family. That may be more rare than the rifle...........

Any store still owned by the same family after 50 years is a rarity!

H&R .410 Single shot. I'm 45 now and I still have this gun. Occasionally I will break it out of the gun safe and use it squirrel hunting. Brings back lots of old memories. My son will end up with it one of these days and hopefully he'll do the same.

Christmas when I was 10 I got an 870 youth model 20ga. Shot a lot of rabbits and deer with it.

Christmas when I was 11 scored a Marlin 10/22 knockoff. I shot more lead through that than the Marine Corp. my grandpa would give me a 1000 round brick about once a week.

When I was 12 my dad bought me a Winchester mod 70 classic featherweight in .270. Shot my first antelope and mule deer with it.

First gun I bought myself was a stoger over under that I later sold to my brother in law. First pistol was a Para Ordinance LDA double stack POS. Thing would not run. Traded it for a Springfield mil-spec.

Looking at TacomaHog870's post reminded me of this picture - probably the first weapon I shot. This picture was taken on Memorial Day 1958 - I was 3. I posted this on FB several years ago and was told by several people that it was offensive and advocated gun violence. You can imagine my response.

Turned 18 then immediately bought a Mosin Nagant 91/30 from big 5 when they were $90. Bought it because it was a firearm to go to the range with that didn't break the bank. Guns worth close if not $300 nowadays and sights in true. Hopefully will give this to my kid one day.

Winchester .410, single shot. I had to have been around 8 years old (around 1984). That thing was the squirrel slayer.
It was passed on to my sister, but she never shoots the damn thing. She's more of a pistol shooter. Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm wondering if I can get it back for my daughter..... Sounds like there's a deal to be made.
