Dealers by me have used Tacomas listed for exact price as the MSRP when new.

CarMax offered me $27k for my base 2022 base SR with 32k miles on it, paid $28,500 for it new. They'll certainly list it for over $30k.

I paid $28,500 for my 2022 SR brand new. CarMax offered me $27k for it, it's now 2 years old with 32k miles on it. Used prices are very strong on these trucks. So I'd say you did pretty well based on prices in my area.

Dealers cleared the lots of new Gen3’s in December anticipating that plenty of Gen4’s were on the way. When the ‘24’s were held up in Q1, those dealers then had very few of any Tacomas to sell, and no Gen3’s coming back to them on trade. Seems that like that situation has been good for us.

Right now’s a great time to have a Gen3, but we’ll see how values fluctuate as inventories build later this spring & summer.

Best to tread very lightly when purchasing new or used b/c this year’s car market has a lot of moving parts, and as we can see the new Toyota MSRP’s continue to come in smoking hot. You never want to be the guy wasting cash or financing negative equity at a silly rate.

In December of '23 I bought my 2023 Lunar Rock TRD Sport DCSB Manual with 13k miles for ~$33k. Nothing fancy, but LED headlights and a manual are enough for me.
I figure I can add everything else down the line...and this place is full of great ideas!

Bought my ‘22 Pro in November ‘23 with 12k miles on it for just over 40k. Listed for 45k. It was a trade at a dealer that typically does high end vehicles and they just wanted it gone. Feel like I got pretty lucky.

43k for a 2023 off road (OR) Long Bed (LB) with 7k miles in upstate NY. It was fully loaded and Toyota certified. Took me months to find a loaded OR LB.

i just priced mine through kbb as a private seller. 2022 sport ac MT 4x4 with heated seats and ARE canopy. 37K miles. it gave me a price range of $29K-$32K. fwiw. seems a bit low imo, i thought it would be closer to $35K. might be the miles and location knocking the price down.

if i include the canopy, i paid about $41K new.

    Carmax shows prices increasing.
They said my '18 is worth $29k today sight unseen so they likely assume stock with normal mileage. I paid $31k new.

I bought my 19 SR5 DCSB 4x4 AT with 39,000 on the odometer for $26,600 back in January. Very clean inside and out, and came with a soft tri fold bed cover, OEM bed mat, running boards, and the front windows were already tinted. The VW dealership I bought if off of took in on trade last July for 35k and it didn't sell. I snatched it up 2 days after they had just dropped the price again.

What is your location? I think KBB knocks a bit off if you’re in rust belt zip codes. I have a pristine 21 sr 4x4 and it still values higher than what I bought it for, but if I do a kbb value in a California zip, it is worth $1000+ more. I live in the rust belt..

Stock with a camper shell for now.
A month ago I sold my 2009 Tacoma DCLB sr5 with 230k miles on it. Had some minor stuff done to it but nothing crazy for $13,500.

turned around and bought a 2019 DCLB TRD off-road for $23,500 with 75k miles. It’s bone stock beside a leer camper shell, and some steps.

I think I got a good deal on my investment even though the rack is leaking and I will have to replace it.
