Hey guys, I just recently bought my 2013 TRD Sport Tacoma DCSB and been looking at some pics online of them bein lifted.

Im trying to be lifted about 2-2.5". I want to keep the stock 17" wheels and just go with a fairly bigger tire.

Question is, should I just go with the adjustable Bilstein 5100's or should I go all out and get the coilovers, upper control arms, and so on?? I know its a big price difference but I want to keep my smooth factory ride.

Pictures or input is much needed! Thanks!

I'd go 5100's some 884's or 885's and run some 265/70/17's that should be great! You can go uca's but their not totally neccasary

    read build thread
in the 2-2.5" range your in the danger zone for needing new uca's anyway. if you want to keep your stock rims with larger tires youll prolly need spacers.

you get what you pay for in the end, but no one really does a lift to keep the "smooth factory ride".. its almost always stiffer, but its a truck, not a cadillac sir.

you can look thru my build thread for what I did, its a more middle of the road option between 5100's and "all out".

    happy tanksgivin also :hungry:

When the new is totally worn off and I need to replace shocks, this is probably what I am going to do, with the Dakar leaf pack for the rear. At that point my kids will probably be out of college, so I can get a new DD and have my truck as more of a toy and mountain vacation vehicle.

Are the 884 or 885's a necessity when you add the 5100's ?

I guess what I am asking is, can you use the stock coils when you add the 5100's?????

If you want a halfway decent ride I'd go with the OME springs and the 5100's@ 0. You can use the stock springs, I did, it's ok but the ride is pretty jarring and I'm pretty sure you loose a bit of "up" travel due to the preloaded spring. It's a way better set up then spacers but it still isint perfect.

I run em... but I am running 285's on stock OR wheels, so their needed 265's on the stock wheels would be fine. If your going after market for your wheels just make sure you get the proper 4.5" off set and you will be fine.

Spacers increase rubbing when turning and at full lock, and a lot of people complain that they can come loose over time. Most people who do a lot of wheeling tend to avoid them.
