I see holes in both my doors where it looks like some sort of weather stripping or splash guard should be snapped into yet nothing is there. its like 10 or so factory holes along the bottom so its obvious something was supposed to be there but I cant find any description of any weather strip attaching to the underside of the inner door.

does anyone know if there is something that is supposed to be there or not? if not why make all those holes to let outside air and noise into the door?

and im not talking about the 4 or 5 drain holes if anyone is confused about the holes im talking about. on my old chevy there was a rubber flap that went in holes just like the ones im talking about and it was a splash guard to keep water and wind out of the door jam and away from the door seal

thanks, I never noticed anything on my 99 but I honestly never looked and my 04 was repainted before I got it so :notsure:

but it makes no sense for Toyota to go to extra expense to have these holes made in every door if they aren't being used for something and they certainly are too high up for water drainage

None on mine, 2002 TRD Ext Cab, and I checked both doors. My truck has about 90k miles, well kept, so I am sure it did not have any to start with. There is just the normal weatherstripping on the cab frame where the door mates to.

I see the holes you're talking about - round, not the little rectangular weep holes. Curious. Brighter minds will have to solve this hole mystery. Picture better than a thousand words:P1020889.jpg .

yes, thanks for the picture too.

its like an inch up the door and not in the drain track so I really doubt its anything to do with drain holes but it looks exactly like the same holes you see on the chevy trucks that have a rubber flap that pins there with push tabs and I can only surmise its to keep mud and stuff out of the door sill area.

maybe toyota was trying something similar then changed their mind about it for some reason, possibly because it maybe wasn't effective. I cant see anything else attaching there to those holes and I don't see a part listed anywhere as going there?

the one below looks a little different then what I had on my 98 chevy but it shows the general type of seal im thinking is supposed to attach to those holes
