I bought my 2011 Tacoma a few weeks ago and assumed the wheels were stock and had been painted or plasti-dipped. Now that I look at them closer, I’m not so sure. I checked the sticky thread on Wheel Specs and didn’t see them there. Does anyone recognize this rim?

Also, any ideas on how to clean them up?

    Thanks.

Correct. These are the Toyota TRD OffRoad 16x7" aluminum rims that came on the Tacoma.

    They are originally silver.

If it wasn’t dark out here I would take a close up picture of them. They are sitting in the shed. Came off my 2011 off road

That is interesting. This truck has no TRD stickers so I assume these are not the stock wheels. Is there any other way to tell if it has the TRD package?

If its a bone stock Off Road you'd have a rear diff locker button which those rims are off of.

In some years, the SR5 trim came with aluminum wheels that looked like yours. The alternative was ugly gray steel wheels like these:

Starting in 2011, if the truck has the TRD package, there wouldn't be an SR5 emblem on the tailgate.

This truck does have an SR5 emblem on the tailgate next to the V6 emblem.

my base model 2005 4X4 has those same wheels. Im not the original owner, so not sure if the truck came with them or they were put on later.

that paint looks like its peeling, try using a pressure washer, before you try chemicals or media removal...

Those 5 spoke alloys came on tons of 2nd gens, not just the TRD OR.

They were used for many consecutive years so there are a ton of them out there. Many people (myself included) ditched them for something different. I took mine off my TRD OR and I gave them to my friend who had rusted stock steel wheels. So his truck looks like a TRD OR but is the basic model with as few options as he could get. I do not recall what the web site is but I believe there is an web site you can put your VIN number into and find out what options were on your truck.

I remember back in the day if it was a clean 6-lug 2nd gen it was either those 16s or the Sport 17s. Wasn't really any other options. And 80% of them had the 16s

Never really see many rusty steelies, at least out here in WA
