So I was curious on what size wheels and tires I should purchase for my tacoma. I am 18 and saving up and will be purchasing myself so I am trying to focus on being cost efficient. I was looking towards getting 17’ wheels but was unsure about the tire size. Any ideas?

If you do 16” wheels, 265/75/16 or nice stock size (good all terrain)

If you do 17” (make sure they balance on Tacomas) stock wheels are best for that, but SCS, Method, and a few others make wheels that balance well. Tires for 17” wheels would be best at 255/75/17 or 265/70/17

Tires make a great difference in mpg. If this is a concern, stay stock, but buy nice well made tires, like Michellin, Falken, or BFG.

Thank you so much! What size tires would you reccomend if I went up to 17’ wheels?

Depends on if you wanna lift it, go off road...

I also have a 2018 SR5 and hated the stock wheels, but loved the 17" Sport wheels that everyone else seems to hate.

Found a new take off set of Sport wheels cheap, and bought Toyo Open Country AT tires in 265/65-17.

I would have went with 70 instead of 65, but I have no plans to lift it. Some with stock suspensions say theirs never rub, some say they do.

I played it safe, their perfect for beach driving, and didn't mess up my mileage much.

Great choice that’s about 31” and probably nets the best mpg you can get.

This is perfect for OP because my tires are also 17” wheels, but 255/75/17 (32”) and I have a 2” lift. I avg. 17-22mpg depending on driving.

There’s ALOT of lift options out there. Save your $$$ for something good if you truly want it down the road. Use your stock stuff for a while to learn how your truck drives, then upgrade if you feel necessary. I went some badass places on my stock setup and the Tacoma is the best truck to enjoy that stuff.

Good tires will make a big difference and one of the most important differences alone

me? I paid $820 for my wheels shipped to my door, a little higher than some but mine came from a Toyota dealer in California and I am in NC. I paid $536 for my tires from Discount Tire Direct on eBay. they were running some sort of sale the week I bought mine. mine are not LT tires though, they are P265/70/17.

Looks like I am the only one with 18" wheels. They came with a package that someone else ordered but then never picked up. They do rub when in a full over turn with the truck on an incline. Nito a/t Terra Grappler G2 305/65R18.
