i need mine refinished from the original factory weight marks and accumulated road chipping, DT told me they could not balance my new tires and put weights back to cover up the years of never being moved.
... have a line on a local place unless they are wanting mucho money to refinish them

maybe i can buy some $90 wheel finishing stuff and try it out myself

I hate the ride of my present 2004 Tacoma. I can't make it ride as good as my previous Tacoma.

I knew you were going ask that. I'll have to look this evening.

Oddly enough, my 2004 wheels/tires are the same height as my wife's 1998. Only difference is there is more side wall on the 15" tires. I'm thinking this is why it rides better.

I dunno. Do you have the stock TRD frt. progressive springs still on. It was a relief to be rid of them IMO.

Going to the 265/75 aspect of a 16" should keep it the same. 31" to 32" 15" to 16" 1/2" each side. (close anyway)

I stripped mine with aircraft paint remover and the aluminum was pretty clean despite how spotty it was before. Threw on 2 coats of wheel paint that covered everything anyway. 7 coats clear. 2 big cans.

They look good but i should have just brought them to a paint buddy to throw 2 stage clear on for hardness. Or order the 2 stage online in a can.
Will turn out good and have hardness i didn't get. Mine look good, just too soft of a clear from a can for wheels that get this hot.

The price for some of these old stock wheels is dumb. Might as well just get some new Enkei's or SCS wheels.

Most are happy to be able to give them away. The only stock wheels ever in demand are brand new designs. I had some Tundra 20" Platinums advertised for 2 years before anyone would come pick them up.

i do border the 'Show Me State' :anonymous:

they were quite a bit worse than that! soaked them with oven cleaner and then a warm soapy rinse to find that underneath
since I have never taken my wheels off personally but maybe once i twice i forget, have really never had a need to other than one time I had a nail in one and was completely flat! in the driveway one morning, just thought i would see what was under all the years of whatever collects in there

you can see the nice shiny surface where my wash mit was able to keep the surface somewhat clean washing the other side when it needed it

3rd gen 4Runner 5 stars go fast in my area. Aside from that, most just sit for weeks at a time and end up selling for like $15 a wheel.
