My 1st gen will never die :). Just got a new frame. My 93 pickup is still kickin' strong, i don't see why i can't get another 15 20 yrs out of my taco with enough parts. I suppose i'd get a 2nd gen or a newer one. Still anxious to see what the 2015 taco will be

260+hp, direct injection, and a 6sp Auto would be tempting.

its kinda funny this question... working for toyota makes me wonder.... my 98 has 160k on it now... im pretty sure ill have it forever... but i dont like the new stuff... they arent TRUCKS anymore... ghings are so flimsy, more concerned about emissions and fuel mileage. which is why i love the old stuff. it amazes me how much these trucms can take before dyeing. i honesty woud love a 2005 tundra dblcab. last great truck toyota made imo...

Same basic shit everybody else had 5 years ago.
I bought mine in 2003 with the intent of getting 20 years out of it before even looking at anything new. I am half way through that and see no reason I won't get there. The newer models aren't bad and would love to have one as long as the wife lets me keep the 2003 too! Honestly I just don't see me driving anything but a 1st gen double cab well maybe an FJ40..........

I hope mine lasts another 75,000. But if I had to choose either a nice FJ40 Or Fj Cruiser.

Which is sad. They make a diesel in the HiLux, which is the exact same truck. It would be nice if they would offer it in the US. I guess maybe it doesn't meet emission standards for a diesel in the US?

No plans after this one. I owned my last 4x4 ('84 4runner) for 17 years, longer than some of the guys on this forum have been alive

I'll be in an old folks home before I give up this truck.

One thing for folks to keep in mind is the initial frame rust "buy back" program. In the end, Toyota estimates it will have bought back and crushed half of the entire production run for those years. This has/will increasingly impact used prices and availability, both trucks and parts. Sourcing used parts for early Tacos will be like early FJ's in no time. This will also impact the numbers of new replacement parts Toyota decides to keep making after the required 10 years.

One day, I'll have to get something a bit more upscale. You know, with back seats and an automatic. When that day happens, Truck is becoming a trail queen.

Mentioned up above^^Even if your frame does fall apart, you could always replace an entire frame that's a lot of $$$ but if your truck means that much to you!!
    I drive a 95.5 sx, and have around 145,000, I wouldn't trade him for the world :D

Obamas Cash For Clunkers killed off a lot of them too. I found a bunch in the junkyard, one in particular was full of engine seize jugs. Was very sad. I was really amazed though at how many people exchanges their cars for Toyotas. They all had stickers on them saying where the person turned it in and what model car they got.

I wish I had some POS car to turn in during those times to get a nice new truck. We thought about buying one just to trade it in haha

I found these two in the program and they were getting sent to the crushers.

No mods yet that's why Im signing up to talk to yall to see what to order.

A few months ago I found a 2004 DC 4x4 with 34,000 miles at a Toyota dealer in Reno. But the dealer wanted 26K for it and I check kbb and its trade in was around 19ish. But the price tag was way out of my budget
