Those fit on OEM wheel or did you have to buy a wider rim? 265/65 R16??

    Sorry. They are a 31.5/10.50(265/65/18)
They’re on a 9” wheel. Depending on the maker, a 265/75/16 tire would fit a factory wheel.

The logical (re: unemotional) argument is against lifting. Lifts kill performance on the highway, big tires kill acceleration. If it's your daily, you'll be fighting those things on your monday-friday commute.

Most off road trails can be driven on stock-size all-terrains. Heck, a lot of those trails can be done in 2wd with a halfway competent driver.

On the other hand, big wheels look badass. :mudding::burnrubber::headbang:

Consider this: the tacoma, as designed out of the factory, is a jack-of-all-trades. A generalist. Every mod done is giving the truck a specialty, focusing it's ability towards a specific purpose. (Just like graduate students, specialists do one thing really well, and are complete shit at everything else.)

I'd recommend taking some time to get to know your truck, let it tell you how it fits into your life. As you mod, don't think about what capability you'd gain, instead think about what capability you'd sacrifice. That will help you plan your build in a rational, thought-out way.

save up a little extra cheddah then...tires tires tires!!! I just recently went from the stockies to 255/85-16s(33s) cooper st maxx and have waaaay more confidence off road now...gained some ground clearance, have a tougher tire, and more tread...im also in new England where all the trails are a mix of mud and suuper bony rocks and roots so the extra ground clearance by only switching tires was a no brainer...now im just going to be a little extra careful wheeling until I get sliders and upgraded skids

Budget is a little light for tires. You can fit 255 33s, but not at that price. I would get recovery gear. You will need that no matter what else you do.

My #1 scrape points this weekend we’re front skid and hitch. I’m going to get a hitch skid for the next outing before I decide to go with a full rear bumper.

These bumpers are stupid and worthless. If you ever happen to hit a corner, expect 500-1000 in bumper damage alone. Toyota apparently put the Corolla rear bumpers on these. I recommend replacing it before you hit it like I did and create a mess.
