I know I can get a 3" drop in the rear with a simple axle flip but what would be involved in dropping the stock prerunner front end 2"-3"?

would I need the entire base truck "A" arms and spindles or do they have prerunner drop spindles?

basically im looking for a way to do an all around 3" drop on my 04 prerunner

I'm not looking for any more then that but I want a 3" drop so what are the ways to do this?

Remove valve stems from tires. Very quick lowering job.

so I guess im limited to swapping out to a base model 5 lug front end and then adding a front end lift kit to it or spend $400 on a complicated very involved replacement kit for everything? at least I know my options now.

will have to watch for a more reasonable priced kit from an "off" brand name then

    because I didn't buy a 4wd, I bought a prerunner and I don't need 16" of ground clearance for a pavement princess

According to your threads, it's gonna be the sweetest supercharged 3.4L, V8 swapped, lowered Prerunner ever. ;)

500 is not bad at all. I have about 2500$ in a 2 inch lowering kit. Not Tacoma of course. Hotchkis tvs be pricey.

Lmao. If 500 is too expensive of a modification for something as involved as suspension then maybe you shouldn't be doing anything besides hid headlamps and plastidip.
Not directed at you op. Just a blanket statement for future readers.

well by comparison I was expecting to find a set of drop spindles at about $150 each and the axle flip is basically free so im going to be looking for a kit around the $350 area to fit my budget better.

I just don't like the shear number of brackets and things for just about everything involving disconnecting and reconnecting so much stuff when a drop spindle (that they don't make) is all it should be but what can you do if they don't make one?

in the end I will have to admit defeat and buy a kit like that but I definitely will need to find a deal on one.

Understood as they didn't make drop spindles for mine either. Hence why it is pricey.

been a mechanic all my life and rebuilt dozens of engines and dozens of trannys in all manor of vehicle from lawn mower, motorcycle, outboard, & truck engines

I have never cut springs down myself but have seen it done many many times on a regular basis to lower vehicles but for most of those, they weren't really worried about ride comfort.

I don't know how much I will need to cut, but I think cutting off a full loop will give me about 1 1/2" shorter spring which should give around a 3" drop, so I will start with cutting off half of a loop and see what sort of drop that gives me.

I am rather leaning towards just buying the shorter springs, its a more attractive option so I only have to redo the struts one time and be done with it but then it would be nice to be able to save that money, plus I just bought these new struts with springs :notsure: so maybe I can resell the springs I take out.

Sounds like you can do it with the right plans.
