OK well then I wouldn't bash on a 2-3" lift if all you are wanting is something to "fit" you.

Because alot of people on here don't like lifts just for looks... Like just adding a spacer or something. They like something functional. Not everyone that has a 2-3" lift is for every lifted truck.

You totally misunderstood the meaning behind eBay parts. Referencing the low quality knock-offs that sell on the cheaper side of the spectrum. (Buying cheap springs that were the first ones listed) No, I'm not bent out of shape over lowering a truck. Honesty, your logic doesn't make sense. I want to lower my truck because it looks better, but I'm going to bitch about the limited options that are out there for prerunners. Gee, wonder why that is? On top of that, I argue against individuals who express their ideas and TRY to help you. Then you go on to say, "I know what I'm doing when cutting springs." Then why did you seek info on a forum? You complain about limited resources and then shit on others' suggestions. :smack:

Yeah I wasn't talking about what he linked. I was referencing knockoff parts in general.

04 different generation so not familiar with tundra racing kit for 04. Only thing needed to be done on mine 2nd gen was to add lowering spacer on strut and spacer for sway bar. Don't have to tear apart whole front end. Cant go too low with out drop spindels because upper control arm gets to close to upper fenderwell . Only way to get drop spindels is to cut and weld stock one . torspd and hirod only guys I know that did theres.
The $500 for kit is for front and back .Not just front. Also tundra kit lowering block made at correct angle (pinion ) so no drive train problems.
Good luck with what ever you try but I think tundra racing kit is worth the money. Cant go much lower with out running into problems.

Check out hirod build thread. Got good info. But our kit is for 05 up. Yours is 04. Pretty sure same way .Call tundra racing. They help answer your questions.

All it does is mount springs lower on strut so truck sits lower . But since spring is not cut you have same ride. wont be stiffer

    these are my struts
    [IMG]

I don't really see anything that would lower them by replacing the spacer with another spacer that looks to be the same exact thickness?? :notsure:

can you see why im not understanding what actually changes the strut height? could it be that the kit for my truck looks different then the one in the picture?

Pics of front struts. Remove stock bottom seat mount (knock it off) then install spacer and new spring mount. Can see the difference. Also pic of sway bar spacer. Looked at the kit for the 04 . Looks like works the same way.
Kit will work with only the struts that came with your truck. Dont know if spacer same diameter as the strut you want to buy.

well lets see, the ideas expressed were your stupid, sell your truck, and leave it alone. so yes I did not agree with non helpful opinionated remarks telling me what I should and shouldn't like about my own truck, so would you if those comments were directed at you when you were seeking help finding something to mod your truck.

rock lobster told me about the tundra kit, that was extremely helpful and I thanked him for it.

and devinnz1 had the suggestion for the belltec 3" drop spring which I forgot to thank him for. thank you for that devinnz1.

after seeing there was a drop spring, it dawned on me, if that's all it takes, then it might be worth trying to just cut my springs shorter and if it didn't work I was thinking about buying the new springs anyway so why not give cutting them a shot. its not like I would be making a coil spring from scratch after all.

so I mentioned cutting the springs which was and is one of the options to lower the truck weather you like that fact or not. not sure why this got so many people sideways over a regular practice that has been done to cars and trucks for 40 years. maybe todays weekend warriors don't know their car and truck modding history and think everything always has to be custom made and store bought.

do you even remember what was the original question the thread asked? let me help you out:
I don't see anything there where I was asking anyones opinion, permission, or approval, for weather I should or shouldn't lower my truck or not, do you?

ok, I see what it does now, thanks. i would guess the Monroe quick struts would be the same as the oem but as you said, that's something i would have to find out ahead of time.

one difference in our trucks is that the first gen prerunners have springs over axle so i think my kit would not need or include the leaf spring shackle bracket and axle spacer shown in your pictures since the axle flip gives the full 3" drop. unless the shackles are there to lift it a little bit in case you don't want the full 3" drop from the axle flip?

I didn't say you should or shouldn't lower your truck. I just said I don't see the point in lowering it only 2-3". That's just my opinion because it doesn't solve any problems besides cosmetically. The general idea of cutting springs is frowned upon due to the ride quality alongside safety reasons. It's your truck do what you want. You're going to get people's opinions on a forum. What else were you expecting from this, honestly?

Actually 2nd gen has spring over axle also . Pic before moving under axle. And 2nd pic moving under.
The block is needed because cant mount spring on bottom because axle is round. Block clamps onto axle and gives you flat surface to mount springs.
