I was please with the build quality of my 2012 Taco & I'm impressed with my 2014 T4R but, I haven't & didn't have the issues you're having... That said, the brand loyalty thing is beyond me...have never had it & don't understand why some people do.

My 2012 was built decently, between those two big problems and a bluetooth non connection which resulted being a hardware issue which I fixed, my interlock never working right, and several other issues I'm not remembering right now, I'm not 10/10 totally happy with how my truck was built. It's all fixable but when you pay 30K+ for a vehicle, you expect things to be assembled well you know?

Oh ya I get it. I'd be peeved if I were having issues. My last new purchase F250 PowerStroke & new purchase BMW where that way. Could be fixed (and were mostly under warranty) but a major PITA and not expected at any price point let alone what the shit cost. And it's not like the repairs are free. Power door lock actuators on the garage kept, never driven in the snow BMW were $400 each. Steering wheel interlock, $1,200, ECU $3,500. The ECU was under warranty but left it stranded 50 miles from home. It only had 2,500 miles and was 6 months old at the time.

The F250 ended up earning an extended no deduct able warranty (Ford gave it to me after the rear main & transmission had major issues with <1,000 miles on its odo)...and it needed it so never a dime outta pocket but, lots of shop days.

Taking a truck airborne regularly might have something to do with mechanical issues... just saying.

That being said I can't argue with the brand loyalty thing. I have brand disloyalty for sure, as in brands I won't touch for a few years again after being burned or having friends burned, but not true loyalty to any one brand.

Agreed, wife always wanted a new Sequoia. Have a 2001 thats awesome. Bought a ?? 2011 Brandnew...a fully loaded "Platinum" verion. Made it 20,000km before shit started happening. Entire front axle assembly replaced. power rear seat folder replaced. Power mirror. Navigation unit. rear seat heater. Passenger side rear window motor....shit, the list went on and on. It was a total POS. traded it at 50,000km for a new Mercedes E350. She has never looked back.
Everything has issues...but the more we demand more features for less dollars...well, they gotta cut things somewhere. QC is usually first.

Dang? Really? Well at least the next buyer will be taken care of. I hope.

Just to be clear, this was a case that I was working with Honda America, not just the dealer. It was Honda America that made the good-will offering and contacted the dealer to work the service out. So maybe something changed. Either way, just add that to the ridiculousness of this case and why I don't feel comfortable giving my money to Honda anymore.

Well, rear tailgate is already better than new Tacoma. I hope it looks like Old Tacoma and not new one because stupid grin with underbite on new Taco is not winning any points on beauty.

Did he say anything about what kind of engine it had? Hopefully this is not another Barbie Mobile like old Ridgeline and now Tacoma.

Honda can SUCK IT in my opinion. Had to have wife's Element engine rebuilt at 90k and then it straight up died at 140k. Of course, the dealer took me to the bank on "repairs" that didn't actually repair anything before I told them to shove it and just bought her a new vehicle.

ToMoCo will give you a rebuilt motor at 90k miles? And a new motor at 140k miles?

No bro, that's not my point. My point is that Honda has this fantastic reputation that, in my personal experience, is total crap. I shouldn't have had to do a rebuild on a 7 y/o well-maintained car with 90k miles and it shouldn't have died at 140k. The whole car was crap. It was terribly built. That is my point. I'm not sure where you saw my hand out for a free engine.

Manual trans, hwy mpg over 25....6' bed. But I probably could get by without the 6' bed, since I have a nice little 5X8 trailer for mulch runs.

IRS would be nice over the Tacoma....think my step-dad's Highlander handles wash boards better than my Camburg/OME equipped Taco.

    Got it.
However you missed my point as well. Not saying you are looking for a handout. I am saying Toyota would deliver similar results in your example.

Got it. If I had an hour, I would have described my Honda ownership experience in better detail. I'll just leave it with my honest opinion that my Honda did not live up to my expectations of its brand reputation and that the local service department fleeced me with many promised fixes that actually did nothing besides drain my bank account.

Meh, if you want to talk about problems, 7 years old engine dieng is not an issue, try 7 year old truck failing inspection because of the frame and becoming salvage... For the price of what can cost to replace your frame in 7 years you could buy couple Honda engines to install one and have two other on standby.
Heck for what it costs to replace Toyota frame you could buy good portion of Chevy Colorado ... heck you can buy used Honda for what it costs to replace frame...
    :)
See where I am going , and your frame is exactly like mine , except in 7 years I will still have Toyota warranty. :D
