Well this turned into a dick swinging contest.

Back on topic - "What would Honda have to do to sway Tacoma buyers" this is what shows up on my Tapatalk thread preview. I'm thinking that would help.

Honda will overcharge for sure. Not something a real Trucker will buy. Grocery Store, School, and Picnics. But, there is a niche to be filled and this might just fill. Soccer Moms will love it.

I did read a bit on those forums but it's basically reading a CUV buyers forum so I tuned a lot out. Plus there's ton of interpretation which colours everything just like on the 3rd gen forums here. One thing that was interesting is that Honda is not part of the SAE towing agreement, which means they can rate this truck to whatever the fuck they want for towing but it will not conform to the same standards as other trucks.

    Yep.
Not everyone uses a pickup for work or is an off roader or outdoorsman.

I have a good friend who's passion is music, guitars and fine wine. He drives a Ridgeline. He's also the finest wood worker you'll find, builds beautiful furniture and cabinets.

I've been in the Honda. Damn thing sure is comfortable.

Funny thing is, if you met him you'd think he'd be a guy who would drive a Raptor or Escalade. Big. Larger than life character. Super talented. Sharp old man. And surely can drive pretty much anything he wanted...
But quiet and humble. An excellent friend.

Exactly. The 2017 Ridegeline was unveiled today, I think. Likely the same platform as the Odyssey and Ridgeline...

oh and this guy/guys wife though a 2” lifted ridgeline was going to be better “off road” than a TRD tundra.

I'll agree with many. This new Ridgeline is not a real good looking truck. Honda may have stepped in it.
In today's market...they needed to step out with something that has much bolder and rugged styling.

My wife's new RDX has more testosterone then that tampon hauler.

yep, or that you can’t build a taco to keep up with a stock raptor for about same price.(going off like the $55k or $60k price of one, vs $30k or even less for a taco)

On the new Ridgeline I am impressed with:

1.) 48+ inches between the wheel arches in the bed. It can hold a sheet of plywood laying flat.

2.) Ability to carry a set of golf clubs under the rear seat.

    3.) Availability of Handa Sense.

But, I wouldn't even consider buying it because:

1.) It's ugly to my eye.

    2.) Unibody.

    3.) No low range.

4.) Slipping reliability across the Honda brand.

5.) No F'ING volume knob on the dash on the only trim level I'd consider buying.

With the coming regulatory requirements such as V to V communication and what is required, Toyota will at least be adding a Honda Sense type technology to all its products eventually (I bet no later than the next gen or sooner on the Taco).
