The new Ford Sync works great. I can't believe how bad the V to V is on my Tacoma and how terrible it was on my old Ram. You can almost talk to a Ford now normally and it sounds like it's the same with Honda.

The wheel wells are less than 2" tall... I'm guessing gypsum board would flex over them and not break if the gap isn't wide enough lol.

Agree it may not be a big deal to many. I've hauled a bunch of shit in the Tacos I've owned & always hated the PITA part of putting dry wall or plywood in the bed. Still wouldn't sell me one over a taco & if that were a huge priority I'd be looking at a full size...but, I'm still impressed by it.

I'm referring to vehicle to vehicle communication that the safety peeps in our government are now trying to get made into law...it's going to happen...just a matter of time.

According to Honda (see what I did there) the bed is a flat 48+ inches BETWEEN the wheel arches. But, who knows.

The Ridgeline has unique and desirable features.

But, so does an ugly woman with a boob job.

See...one light switch and it's all better. Now if Honda can understand the importance of a knob/switch and just give me a knob on the damn dash to adjust the volume with Honda!

I'd buy one. It would work for my purposes, and I like the way it looks. I like the idea of a more car like ride too.

Just Chrysler group so far. Even then they've fixed the problem for now. GM will be next but difficult. Ford doesn't wire the infotainment and vehicle diagnostics into the rest of the car yet so safe there for now.

No matter what though a unified universal V to V system would make take one of the hardest parts of hacking a car out and unify the systems between them all. Such a system, by definition, has to interface with the throttle, brakes, steering...

Agree and that's a current major hurdle but, I do think it will be mandatory. Airliners have been regulated to use it for maybe 20+ years (known as TCAS for traffic collision avoidance system). I think it's the next big safety advance in cars. I also really like the Honda Sense package too. Adaptive cruise, Lane keep assist with autonomous steering & autonomous emergency braking...all cool additions I'd be happy to pay extra for... I think those will be added with or without V to V being mandated.

A big difference is that TCAS, which I know of a bit but I'm no expert on aircraft, can't force two planes not to collide. All it does is give the pilots warning with plenty of time to react. What I've heard is that a vehicle to vehicle system would instead remove the pilot and avoid collisions by itself. It wouldn't be hard to hack such a system and force a car into the ditch... or worse.

I agree with all the extra cool features though. Most of those don't override your commands, they simply anticipate them much like fly by wire computer systems in aircraft now interpret pilot input and relay the commands in the best way to the control surfaces to do what the pilots want.

Sure but, I think a TA/RA system would still provide some benefit and with autonomous tech already build in that can easily over ridden and defeated by the operator I think it'll happen...

I would like to see it especially if the hacking can be effectively minimized.
