Just kinda of curious, to see I thing Lower Control Arms are most prone to break while wheeling. The reason why is because my ball joints went out and got the whole arm replace due to warranty(got lucky) then I think would be the spindles but I replaced those, following that I'd think the shocks but I replaced those with FOX a while back.

So I think my weak spot right now are either UCA's or LCA's that are still OEM.

I'd highly doubt you would break UCA's or LCA's before anything else off-roading (not counting bad ball joints).

I'd think blowing a shock would be pretty easy to do.
CV axles or rear axle shafts are pretty easy if you're doing donuts on ice then hit pavement.

Replaced the factory Bilstein with a Monroe from Napa. Looks much beefier, seems to be holding up so far image.jpg

Do you have a spacer lift? If not how did you accomplish that?

Well that answers that. So you know its not a design flaw or the shocks fault, right? That it could still happen with the replacements?

The replacements are the same size as the factory ones just thicker

    bingo!

need to space out the bump stops.
you made your shocks bottom out before you hit the bump stops.

yeah but the thing is, spacers ontop of the shock push the entire shock down. making the shock bottom out before your truck would hit the bump stops creating your shock to break. somewhat common with spacer lifts

The reason it broke is because the spacer/block made your bump stops useless and turned your shock into the new bump stop.

It's only a 2 inch spacer lift. I didn't think I would've needed new bump stops for that

    sounds like some experience there.

Honestly though these trucks are pretty damn tough in stock form. As pointed out spacers on the front will mess your front struts up as they bottom before hitting bump.

OH yes BIG TIME. you spaced the shock down at least an inch if not closer to an inch n a half... when in stock form before the spacer you only have about half an inch of extra shock travel when the LCA hits the bump stop.
