What would you do about this frame rust?

Hi all, 2015 here. I bought it used 2 years ago, certified used. Despite garage and not much driving or snow, this rust got my attention last time I was under the truck. I would check here. First, no big deal or? Second, do you think this is the kind of thing the dealer would look at and address (Toyota certified used) or am I on my own? It seems like it would be easy to clean up a bit and paint over, but before doing that it might be good to have it "on file" with Toyota?

That’s not too bad. You could hit it with a wire brush and spray it with some rust preventative paint. If you are outside of the rust belt you should be ok. If not, fluid film it every year.

Wire wheel it and rattle can and done.

most of that is just at the welds which happens.

depending if you live in a salty area being winter/beach, you should inspect the other areas of frame that are more prone to rusting from the inside out, such as near the cats.

That’s nothing, If you live in a state that uses salt on the roads, spray with wool wax every fall.

Damn! My frame is already worse than that. Wire brush and paint. Or just smear some grease on it when you are doing u-joints.

Thanks everyone, sorry for the late reply - had a parent in the hospital. Not CV, but still stressful. Okay, as suggested, I scrapped my Tacoma! No, seriously, I live in PA. It doesn't snow much any more, but they do use salt when it does. Have to say though, our 2013 Honda has nothing like this underneath.
