She stopped over once and asked me if the local hospital's security breach a year or so ago was public knowledge. Then she told me she got a pop-up ad about a medication for a disease that her late husband had. So, she was convinced that the Russians got into her medical records and were targeting the ads to her to show her that they know all about her. She actually drew a series of 4-5 more conclusions beyond that, but I don't remember what they were--they were even crazier.

Interestingly enough, I googled her and found out that 15 years ago she was a college professor and had won many awards for her research. Clearly something happened between then and now.

Her observation was actually spot on, but the conclusion was way the hell off. She's got her own, domestic corporations and regime to thank for her targeted ads. Google, Facebook, and every other website she ever interacts with tracks every movement, every click, every character typed, builds a comprehensive profile about her, and shows her not only targeted advertising, but targeted content.
