That’s why I had to get rid of my last truck (Ram 1500). Mechanically it was fine but the electronics were full of gremlins.

It's doable. I have a Honda Element that is sitting at 407k miles. Simple upkeep and not letting things go for too long after they raise their heads is the key to many many miles.

FYI engine oil and other lubricants get recycled and reused. Companies like Safety Kleen make re-refined base oil with it and resell it.

Or you could just never change the oil and scrap the truck after 50k. haha just kidding.

In all seriousness though keeping a well maintained vehicle will save gas (less CO2), reduce leaks, and keep things out of the scrapyard is likely far better for the planet than trying to stretch out a gallon or so of lubricant.

I change my oil usually around every 5-6k, because that's about all I put on annually.

some environs are easier than others

the bump/grind rush hour commute does more wear/tear than anything else

    more cycles on brakes ......trans

    more idling on the engine

of course he should change oil more often than guy with hi-way miles
