I was thinking about getting 255/85/16 pizza cutters on the stock truck...and then lifting it later. I feel it would be weird to lift it and then be too broke for bigger tires.

Makes sense, but after a lift, you’re probably going to want even bigger tires, and then will start looking at a cab mount chop, etc.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
I'm totally happy with my Taco.
I'd use it to cover some other real need or want.

isn't someone gonna charge me $1000 to install a lift? I'm mechanically retarded and don't have a great place to do serious car work.

KDMax Pro tune, Trd intake, exhaust, skid plates. ARE cap. 265/75/16 BFG KO2, Eibach lift, CaliRaised Sliders.
Start out with a tune. KDMax Pro or another. Then you can figure how big of tires you want/need and how much extra weight/mods you want to mount on your taco.

Can you give me a brief review of your lift compared to stock?

new 6112 coil overs up front on the 6 setting on the driver side (compensates for taco lean) and five setting on the passenger for 2in of lift. Noticeable improvement in ride quality.

5160 reservoir rear shock for 2in of lift and an Icon AAL. Stiffer rear ride but can handle extra weight easily.

parts and labor was about $3200

Ditto: Right off the lot, ordered a Leer 180...ok, it was a bit more than $3k though.

Then added Compustar remote start/alarm and a few other minor mods.

Now I need a Cat Shield!

    Work in progress...
BakFlip tonneau cover, and done. Honestly if I was to start over again from stock. So about 2,000 left and honestly I wouldn't worry about it. I mean the house always needs hot water heaters, water softeners, washing machines, etc. Yep I would keep my next Tacoma stock. I put the lift the lights the winch the bumpers the etc the etc the etc. Still haven't gone anywhere a stock Off Road couldn't easily go. Save your money, if you are asking me.

i would get another set of factory wheels with sensors and install dedicated snow tires. with the leftover money i may look into LED headlights. the factory halogen low beam suck.

I'd probably invest it rather that blow it on something that depreciates.
