just wondering why it must be manual shift, I’ve owned both but really how will you be using it that it needs manual ? If you do go manual refill the box with MT 90 redline.

Because I prefer manual. Spending this kind of money and I want the truck to be exactly what I want since I'll be driving it for the next 15-20 years. Thanks for the tip on refilling the box, will do.

ADM on a Tacoma! It’ll be a cold day in hell before I paid an ADM on a Tacoma.

I paid $31.5k for a 22k mile Super White 2015 DCSB TRD OR in December 2017 -- coming up on three years ago. Found it in San Diego and it may never have seen rain, let alone salt. It's at 43kmi now.

It seemed to be all the money at the time, but it was the truck I wanted and I've not regretted the purchase for a moment. I waited until the Gen 3 trucks were out to settle on a Gen 2, because as a really tall guy (6' 6") the Gen 3 truck wasn't comfortable. I wasn't sure I could drive it safely, in fact, with the loss in kneeroom and headroom.

So there are Gen 1 (2003) and Gen 2 (2015) Double Cabs in the fleet now. I'm set with Tacomas for a loooong time.

I saw a side-by-side comparison video where a bigger dude (maybe 6'2 ish) was showing that he had like a couple inches of clearance in the 3rd gen but plenty in the 2nd gen.

I just bought my 2015 TRD OR, 4x4, V6 MT back in April 2020. 26k miles, one owner CPO.

There are deals out there, you just have to be patient and ready to pounce. Mine was posted at a dealership without photos or a price because they were still doing the CPO inspection, called them and made an appointment before they finished and closed the deal. Prior to that I had burned 6 months looking at a TON of Tacos and 4Runner with over 100k all for over $30k. The market is just retarded right now.

Around 6k more than the 2015 you were looking at with 44k less miles and full warranty. I think you made a good choice, congratulations!

Less than that - it was only about $4.4k more (not nitpicking, just reminding myself)! The full warranty alone makes up for quite a bit of that difference. Not to mention free maintenance at the dealer for the next 5 years/50k miles. Only downside is the truck is still on its way up from Mexico =(

I bought a brand new TRD OR in December 2019 2020 MY for 36k. If you’re paying that much for a used one I’d just get a new one with Toyota warranty and two years maintenance included. You could probably get that truck for about 35k brand new, for me that 3 grand is worth no miles and maintenance (find a good dealer though. My dealer was good but the service department was horrendous, I’d buy another truck there for sure the sales team was top notch but their service is miserable).

I'm looking at a 2019 cement 4x4 with with black out XP package, tech package, and moon roof used with about 25k. They're asking 39,990 for it. I'm not sure what to think lol.

Not bad since its practically new. Was it certified? And was that price sticker or OTD? The dealership I just bought my 2020 at has that truck for $31,094 (includes rebate) so probably somewhere in the realm of $35k factoring in TTL, freight, and fees.

That’s only $800 less than I paid for mine new 6 years ago so no. I wouldn’t pay 32k now.

The most important thing is that you got exactly what you wanted. You're the one driving it say in and say out. It has to make you happy.

Congratulations on the new Tacoma

    Same crap everyone else got
I paid 29k (sale price, no taxes added yet) 2 years ago this month for my 2015 double cab, at, 4x4 trd off road. It was CPO also. It had 25k on the clock at the time. I still feel like I over paid but it was the lowest mileage, newest year 2nd gen I could find with 4x4 and trd off road package. I just really didn't want a 3rd gen.

My dad wasn't big on advice (kind of odd, as he spent part of his schoolteacher career working as a guidance counselor). A few pieces of advice have stuck, though, especially where vehicles have been concerned. I'll share them for those in this thread:

    1. If you're going to make a trip to the bank, you might as well enjoy the ride.
    2. At least you don't spend it over a bar.
