I remember when I decided to finally buy mine- I knew what I wanted... went to the dealership. They took me out to the lot and there were 5 tacos there, 4 sport and 1 off-road... all were DCSB and auto trans. I said ok, I’ll take the black off-road. Salesman didn’t know what to say. Don’t you want to drive it? Yeah, I’ll drive it home. Went inside and he wrote it up to come out to exactly the window sticker ($32,500 I believe) OTD. I financed through them as well so I’m sure that helped... no haggle buying.

I traded in a 2015 sr 4cyl 4x4 access cab with 17k miles on it... They were drooling. I think i traded it in for 16500 and they sold it a day later for 22k... even though they told me I paid to much for it at 18k.. Total bullshitters. Wont be going back..They made out like bandits on the deal. Live and learn. Wont make that mistake again.

I guess I got a darn good deal. I'm brand new to this site as I just bought my 1st Tacoma. I paid $18k for a 2015, SR5 2 wheel drive, Texas Edition crew cab with only 33k miles. It was a private party. The paperwork in the glovebox had a price of $24,400, so I guess he thought about depriciation. He was asking for $19k so, I was able to knock off another grand.

The market is no different here in Western Canada - there's people selling used 2019's for $5k over MSRP - or at least attempting!

Call me crazy but I just bought my 2012 DCLB Sr5 4x4 for $34k can ($25.8k usd) with 45,000 km (28,000 miles). I only got the dealer to come down $1k, and there was a wait list to purchase within the second day of it being listed.

I won’t call you crazy but people paying MSRP or above are definitely a special breed. You might think I’m crazy but I don’t buy any depreciating asset and pay a premium. Another crazy thing, we pay cash and never pay interest. Sorry for off topic. If you really want to buy a truck be flexible, be willing to travel, don’t limit yourself on options, colors etc. don’t buy on emotion, use common sense. Wait until the right one comes along.

I paid $34.5k for a new 2018 TRD OR 4-door here in Texas. ($36 and change OTD).

So from where I sit, no, that is not a good deal.

In 2018 I paid $21k for a 2015 OR DCSB with 26k miles. It was a private seller and I had been looking for over a year. It was exactly what I was looking for.

I would never buy a new Tacoma since I would void the warranty as soon as I got it.

I paid 18500 +TTF for my PreRunner SR5 all original no rust low mileage. It was much cheaper and in better condition than anything in my area.

Back in February this year, I bought a 2016 black DCLB TRD Sport 4x4 for $34k CAD w/ 64,000 kms (38,000 miles). Bought it in Calgary, Alberta with full warranty. Tip to tail. Power train to electronics. And if no claims against it, I get to claim a $2k refund. Its warrantied up to 120k kms over the next 4-years. Not bad for a 1st time Taco owner!

Yeah @mosccat ... that seems like an over priced TRD Off Road w/ I'd estimate $5500 in aftermarket upgrades?

Up here in Edmonton, AB Canada. Closet thing I can find locally is a 2017 DCSB TRD OR w/ 99k kms $39,999.99

    https://www.toyotanorthwestedmonton.com/inventory/used-2017-toyota-tacoma-trd-off-road-four-wheel-drive-4-door-pickup-5tfcz5an0hx121902/

So, which one is highway robbery?

I was surprised at this. My son is 6'7" and jonesing on a Tacoma. He's been in and out of 30 trucks in the last month trying to find the right one, and is always shaking his head that my '13 AC is the most comfortable one for him. I'm 6'0", and when I get in the truck after him I can barely reach the pedals. I love the 2.5 gens personally, but this was just another factor I hadn't appreciated.

Good luck finding a pristine 2nd Gen DC on the cheap. I still see 14 and 15's TRD Sports and OR near 30k in So. Cal. w 70k + miles.

Jesus, those prices - especially here in CA. Makes me so glad I bought my ‘17 2.7 5spd a few years ago before all this inflated bullshit + covid hysteria for 23k out the door.

Props to whoever is making that kind of money to pay that commanding premium I guess. No hate, just isn’t in the cards for me and I doubt I’ll be buying another if prices keep soaring.

Bought our 15 TRD Sport DCLB November 2017 with 81k miles I believe. No prior history of accidents or anything. Negotiated down to 23,400. We're in the rust belt, so that might make a little difference.

Right now is a really bad time to be buying vehicles, especially Tacomas. No one is able to negotiate anything right now.
