I consider it a success if I get through a job without the administration of multiple compresses and bandages. :D Expletives however are a completely different story.

Seems cussing and busted knuckles are part of the process. I worry when it's to easy.

Oh yeah, I can relate to that.

I can also relate to this 100% of the time no matter how small the job.

I spent the bulk of my career building substations. A lot of times you have to beat the shit out of a bolt with a spud wrench and talk it into the hole. I understand. Nuff said.

I have hit myself in the face with wrenches popping off bolts probably 3 times this past week...never done that before. Makes you really stop and think for a second. (Obviously didn't make me think enough, since it happened more than once. If it's of any consolation, I was lying on my back, pulling hard on the alignment cam bolts :anonymous:)

    I dont remember specifics....
I was working on a large ford vehicle, dont remember the model but lets say it had a large heavy hood...
Was working under the hood but had to get down on my knees to do something in the wheel well or bottom side, maybe verify proper rack position before lifting...
The hood shocks didnt hold & hood came crashing down & completely LATCHED shut tight....
4 of my fingers & tips were holding onto the fender to hood seam, the hood got all of them tight...
I yelled at my neighbor to come release the hood....

He was just 1 stall away & swear seems like it took FOREVER for him to get to me........o_O:frusty:
Its like he was running in slow motion....
As I was yelling, hurry up!!!!

Really surprised none of my digits broke, but hurt like a bitch!!!

Thats all I got expect for lifting your head & hitting the back of your head on the lift / rack feet, hard steel, like a backwards headbutt :annoyed:
Did the many, many times, along with knee'ing trailer hitches as your quickly walking by...

One more, cold winter San Diego day,
I was torquing f150 ecoboost exhaust manifold nuts from the fenderwell.
Socket slipped off the nut & torque wrench came slamming down onto the spindle or upper control arm with my thumb in-between the wrench & whatever suspension component...
That blow caused nerve damage for literally almost 2 years, thumb lost all feeling & was numb....

    Ok, last one...
Was removing / replacing a large cat converter from a superduty that was pressed sleeved into a tailpipe.
I got the area glowing hot with the torch but it was being a bitch & wouldnt come out...
One of the younger trusted service writers was walking through my stall & I instructed him to give me a quick hand...
Get my 16lb sledge hammer which handle broke once upon a time so I welded a 4 foot thick pipe to the hammer head...
So its a real workhorse, put not the best idea for your joints.......
Told him to slam the side of the cat while I support it & catch it as it pulls out...

Hes slamming it, slamming it, im yelling at him, "hit it harder".......
he swings & entire hammer flys out of his hands / grip & slams me in the chest as it gains momentum from about 5 feet away....
Surprisingly that wasnt extremely painful but got lucky, could have been my face or head................

Slater... pulling the heads on my Ranger SOHC 4.0, I have a Snap on, well in this case a Snap off T55 on a 3/4" - 24" breaker bar with a 3/4 to 1/2 reducer AND the handle from the floor jack, 1/2 way through head 1 the T55 distorted enough to be useless... but every bolt sounded like a .22 going off when it broke torque.

Yup, Honda crank bolts are always tight af

Even my beefy Snap-on impact wouldn't loosen them until i bought this special "anvil" type socket that has some weight behind it..
