I'm curious how this will pan out..when I was shopping for a new taco all I could find for the 5spd TRD were the electronic ones.

On a side note, arent the manual hubs a pain in the ass? I wouldnt want to get out in the cold/mud/snow whatever when I want 4x4.

NAAHH!, The going assumption is they are stronger and less prone to fail, that being said there are WAY more trucks here on TW that don't have the MANUAL HUBS and wheel their trucks 100 times harder than I ever will with no problems. I keep my hubs locked in for weeks on end but have the transfer case in 2WD the only thing it may do is bring the MPG down a bit(Keeping the hubs locked is like having non manual locking front hubs) I live in flat Florida and only use 4X4 when out getting to a fishing area or Geocashing in the woods, so when I leave the house I simply lock the front hubs and at the end of the day I unlock(if I remember to) if I don't it doesnt grenade the front end. Plus they can be re built rather easily and if you are into extreme rock crawling, manual hubs and a locked front differential and 4 wheel steering is the way to go. For me, I like to keep things as simple as possible, that's why I went with a 99 with manual t-case and hubs...thanks for reading my book.

I have a 03 v6 trd with a 5 speed and the electronic style transfer case, and my friend has a 95.5 sr5 with a 5 speed and the same electronic style transfer case.

I love the electronic style. When it snows around here it's always very patchy and being able to switch into 4x4 while driving is very nice.

Yes you can shift into 4Hi on the fly.

I have an '01 V6 SR5 extended cab, 5spd with manual transfer case. When shopping I test drove one with the button and put it back.

03 Xtra Cab TRD auto with electronic transfer case. I don't mind it, kind of the best of both worlds. Easy to engage 4Hi on the go and then still able to manually select 4lo when I have too.
