Man, makes you wonder... I get a little sketched out replacing a bearing with a bushing. Engineering no no. If I had known about this phenomena, I most likely would not have lifted this truck. Someone needs to make/source/sell a tighter tolerance bearing for this.

The ARB guys mentioned adding 3 degree shims to the rear leafs. Evidently they lifted two 3rd gens and only one had issues (not entirely sure it's the same issue). He claimed that it corrected similar issues.

A good way to test if it's your front needle bearing is to put the truck in 4x4 while you are experiencing the noise and see if it goes away. If so it is more then likely the bearing.

Edit: I had the needle bearing issue after I lifted my 2016. I was able to have the front diff replaced under warranty which mostly corrected the issue.

Not all the dealers will do this though. Some tell you to pack sand as the truck has been lifted even though there is a TSB for 2nd Gens.

Why would it worry you? If you get the vibes after lifting try to get the dealer to fix their shitty bearing. If that fails get the ECGS fix and pay through the nose to have it installed. Of course the grease monkeys on this site will tell you how easy it is to do it yourself. Not so much if you are a paper pusher.

My dealer has basically told me if there's a lift, don't bring it in for drivetrain complaints......

And I wouldn't even consider trying to do it myself!

Yes. Toyota of Puyallup in Puyallup, WA is the same way.

I was drinking a cola one day and called the service department for giggles and shits and asked for a referral to get a leveling kit installed. The service clerk said to me, "Sir, our trucks look great as is from the factory and don't need to be lifted." I damn near sprayed coca cola out my nose all over the floor.

Oh yeah, no doubt. I was ready to argue with them about it but I was lucky and they didn't even mention the lift. Helps if you go to a dealer that has lifted toyotas for sale on the lot. This was magic Toyota in Lynwood,WA for what it's worth.

I just installed the ome kit front and rear on my 2016 TRD Off Road. I went with the full rear springs and 887 coils in the front. I added some 5mm trim packers in the front too. Now the truck has more rake than it came with from the factory. I got about an inch in the front and a little over 2" in the rear.

My question is with the spring perch/cup in the front. I installed mine upside down as the factory one was. Should this actually face up? I've searched Google and see pics both ways. If it should face up that'll give me an extra inch or so and make the truck level.

How are you guys installing this perch/cup?

Actually reading through some of the posts here I might be more like 0.5-0.75" of lift. My hub to fender measurement with the 887 coils is 21.75".

Wow!! That's not right. You only got about 0.75 of lift! With those coils, you should see 2-2.5" of lift easily????

A small handful of select mods.
So does your looks like the picture below? If not its installed upside down. If it does look like the pic below, you might want to verify the spring part number with whomever you bought the kit from. Maybe you got an incorrect set of springs with your kit.

All of the part numbers are correct. I checked the first.

See the coil up how it faces up? On mine it faces down - but that's how the factory struts are assembled. So I did it that way. If I flipped it I'd get an inch or so of lift.

I did it facing down because that's how it was stock and the spring seemed to fit better that way. I don't know which way is correct since Google returns mixed results.

It's almost like pre-2016 were flipped up and 2016 are flipped down (based on pics only as I've never owned an older one). At least stock. But perhaps all lift applications want it flipped it up?

You guys are right. Heard back from ARB too. It's supposed to be like a cup - aka the opposite of what I did. :(

So I've decided to go the same route as my 2nd gen with 5100s up front (set @ .8 instead of 1.75 this time though).
I'm planning to install into OEM springs which i also did for my last Taco..however thought I'd put it out there before I buy them- is there any advantage to swapping out for the OME or Eibachs springs etc?

No plans for off road bumpers / winch etc so front end weight will be stock.
Any thoughts ? Anybody run both setups? And prefer OEM vs aftermarket or vice versa for springs ?

would using a leveling kit for a 2" lift with the original parts from factory work?
