I just picked up 2016 4x4 to pull my 5000# boat. My 03 lifted 3in couldnt handle the weight. I was told lifted trucks aren't good for towing due to the gearing... any comments on how much regearing will cost on 3 in lift?

I thought about it but it sticks out enough that I'm happy with it

Lift doesn't matter. Tire size will. If you stick with 265's you'll be basically stock

I think guys were buying the earlier model ('05-'15) bolts/adjusters.

I love these wheels except for the logo caps. are they removable? What do they look like without?

Definitely wouldn't grind that bolt since that's what is used for your alignment. Did BDS not supply you with a new eccentric bolt? i have limited experience in the drop bracket lifts, but I do know that alignment will be tough if you grind that washer.

Edit: Judging by the photos you provided, it looks like the BDS supplied bolt is meant to go through the control arm and the factory bolt should remain in its original location, however that doesn't make much sense for alignment purposes.

This should give you an idea. He is also running a 6" BDS lift kit. Here is the link to his thread.

I think BDS should be able to make those mods pretty quickly and easily for us so we don't have to mess around with it. I would order the 6 inch from DBS right now if it was updated and my truck isn't even built yet.

Dmac808, maybe I didn't see it but what list are you running, was there a lot of modification? Looks super nice!

    Jerry,

Did you do UCA's on this build? What setting was the 5100's set at and how would you describe the ride?

Nice thread so far! Lots of good info

-just want to wrap my head around a few things regarding the ´16 ride height and spring rate. I talked to Tanner at Toytech (thanks!) but still a bit confused and probably overthinking it.

-I have an 2nd gen with Fox non-res front coilovers set at 1.75" lift, and the rear fox shocks with no lift. The plan is to move my Fox setup over to a new 16 DCLB that I will buy this week as Toytech says it will just bolt right on. (So far, so good) I will probably add a progressive AAL as per toytec's recommendation (and because \000/'s truck looks RAD with his shocks/aal setup, and is how I want the stance on the new one)

    so walk me through it...

-the new truck will go up .75" in the front with current fox settings of 1.75"? I am kinda slow sometimes!
-If I do the rear AAL then I can increase my front coil height to 2.75 - 3" or so for level / slight rake ride? I was hoping to avoid UCA's but is this pushing it a bit too far?
-as I am understanding it from reading here: the '16's sit higher in travel due to a different spring rate (?) - so then will my ride / sag / spring rate not be right with the Fox coilovers? I am 100% happy with my current lift and ride and am hoping I dont need to change the springs in the front coilovers.

    Thanks for any advice!

Yesterday, I stopped by a local shop (they specialize in truck mods) and was quoted $550 to replace the FRONT ONLY shocks with 5100's. That price included the shocks and alignment. Seemed high to me. Would like some feedback. Thx

I got about the same price from 4Wheel Parts in Sparks,Nevada,$2241for the complete OME setup,$1060 for the billstein 6120 ,which is the shock and coils ,or so I was told that's what it was.I was going to buy the bundle kit from HeadStrong and have my local Lester Schwab do the install but they said they cant do it since they don't carry those brands and they can't guarantee it.They are still trying to see if they can just get the billstein 5100's.

3" Toytec lift with UCAs and AAL, Goodyear Duratrac 285/75r16 on 16x8.5 MB Wheels, RPMFAB steel rock sliders, RCI aluminum skids, Pelfreybilt Aluminum Winch Bumper with Smittybilt X2O winch, Yaesu FT-8800R dual band ham radio, Mobilnkd bluetooth TNC for APRS
Just finished installed the ToyTec 3" Boss Suspension lift. Took us, weekend hobbyists, about 7 hours, with a trip to the hardware store for more sawzall blades to cut through both factory upper control arm bolts (glad I ordered two new bolts too). I have to say, I really like design of the SPC UCAs. I went with add-a-leaf on the back and learned it would have been easier to do both at once (instead of jacking up only one side at a time). I too had to cut the new bolt for the leaf spring packs to get the bumpstops to fit. All-in-all, not too bad. Great ride so far, now to get it aligned.
