I have a question, if your new rear shock absorber gives you 1" of lift and your new aaf gives you 1.5" of lift, do those combine for 2.5" or is it just the 1.5" that the leafs give you? Probably a dumb question but im new to all this. Thanks.

Some shock absorbers can accommodate additional lift but they don't provide any, that's the spring's job.

Newbe here, 2021 Tacoma Sport 4x4. STOCK!. Truck needs some help in the looks department (Lift & Tires). Also, I'm in Hawaii and most of the beaches are about a 1-mile drive down a dirt/gravel roads with rocks, potholes, lava rocks etc... On some of the roads, I bottom out slightly. Before reading some of the previous pages in this section, I thought for sure, 4-inch lift. But now that I've read some, I'm thinking 2.5" lift and 33" tires. I don't want to do a big expensive lift and change the geometry a lot. I've heard a lot of people here suggest ToyTec suspension. Any other advice/ideas I may be missing? Do 2.5" lift and 33" tires provide much of a performance upgrade for Tacoma's? Thanks in advance

I am in similar situation and need some advice.

I have a set of the new 17” TRD rims with Faken Wildpeak AT on them. Size 285/70R17. I’m looking at the lift kits from Rough Country for my 2017 SR5 and I’m not sure if the 3” lift will be enough for no rubbing issues, or do I need to get the 3.5” lift? Any advice you guys can give would be appreciated.

2-2.5 is optimal for Tacomas. And yes, that'll fit 33s and they'll do quite nicely. If you're a manual, no sweat. If you're an auto, find some body to tune your truck. You can thank me later

Toytec are rock solid. So is OME, esp in the budget department.

Excellent tire choice, best on the market.

Terrible suspension choice, worst on the market.

Stick with proper suspension, like OME, Dobinson's, toytec etc. Don't cheap out on your truck, it's a 2 ton death machine. Keep the lift to 2-2.5 inches and you'll be fine.

I’m not married to a manufacturer for the suspension, so I appreciate the suggestions. I’m not certain 2.5” lift would eliminate tire rub.

Some manufacturers (like Rough country) are known in the industry for shody craftsmanship and lack of quality.

Companies like OEM are tried and true, across the outback and around the world, hence their high standings

2.5 is plenty, esp with aftermarket UCA's that allow forward camber adjustment and wheels with around a -10 offset.

    Not much stock left.
The lift kit isn’t going to be the issue. If you rub, it will likely be on the cab mount at full lock.

Our local Toyota dealer uses the same size tire because they don’t have customers complain about tire rub. I don’t think you will have an issue.

If you go with an aftermarket UCA as @CygnusX191 mentioned above, then you will have adjustment options. You will want aftermarket, if you get a lift.

I spoke with Edgar at Toytec and he said since I’m running 285s I would need to have the 3” lift to avoid rubbing, and even then it would be close. Looking at getting the new Aluma 2.0 lift to get to 3” with the SPC UCAs. Will do the AALS and Diff drop also. I really like the red spring on the Toytec.

    Nothing yet
3 inch lift wont matter. Depending on tire choice, youll rub something. Just go into it with that expectation.
