What you need to know about lifting a 2016 Tacoma - Presented by Toytec Lifts

thanks for the input. I’m leaning towards the Toytec Aluma 2.0 3” kit right now, but I’m open to other suggestions. Maybe @Toytec Lifts has a special deal coming up for newbs to this whole Tacoma lifestyle

I’ve got a family member who’s got that set on their 2019, I borrowed it for a summer while I was in-between vehicles. Rides great, handles well on the road and comfortable on gravel.
I’m checking out their 2.5 series with RR and have heard pretty good reviews on them too. Who knows maybe there will be a labor day sale

3.5 Vertex on the Tacoma is fairly new . Hopefully there will be some owners who have experience the 3.5 Vertex that can compare with what they had before.

Toytec? Being around along time. I have not read too much on there system. You do hear about all the others brands.

 

Don't know much about the vertex system, but from what I know personally I wouldn't recommend their kits, the quality isn't great and they're more for ascetic rather than functionality. Doesn't seem like you can go wrong with Toytec's though, they're a great mid-price range suspension setup.

 

Has anyone heard/seen reviews on the Skyjacker 3" lift kit?

A lot of GM guys use their stuff too. I'm sure there's technically nothing wrong with it, but experience tells us your best bet is to go with the brands geared specifically towards our trucks. Such as quite a few of them mentioned above

I would save up some $ and get a bolt on kit made by one of those brands he listed, just spend the extra money and save yourself the headache in the long run. Plus you'll get a nice set-up that doesn't rattle your teeth out.

too much to read....but does anyone know if stock 2021 sport suspension can handle 1.5 inches up front and 1" block in the rear with no rear driveshaft support bearing drop? i recently added the trd sema 17"(267/70r17) wheels and measured from the ground past the dead center of the hub up to the fender and read 36". the factory 17s(265/65r17) measured 35.2." after adding a damn HEAVY duty bed mat(5ft bed) and a pair of steel running boards(about 60lbs i'd say) the truck is squatting again at 35.25." i am trying to retain the body height i had before wear and tear on the stock springs and just wanted to "cheap" out until the stock sport suspension has more wear to it. my main concern is the adding a 1" block to the rear shocks.

 

A solid question. However, adding blocks and spacers will wear your s*** out faster.

And a drive shaft carrier bearing drop kit is super cheap. Honestly if you could find an inch thick metal plate and just drill it out you can use that.

 

You may also consider rear add-a-lift spring instead? There are many to choose from. This will help with heavy loads in your truck.

Also many rear lift companies that can re-arch the rear springs, add more or less leafs?

I’ve had Toytec 2” for a couple of years, looks great, rides great, no issues.

 

My son just installed this kit on his 4runner. It actually rides quite nicely considering. I was skeptical at first -- but so far it rides better than stock
